Ok fill in the blank with what you think was a dark day for transformers and explane why this was the case.
An example would be when hasbro canceled alternators and titainium toy lines. Because there were so many cool car designs left to make and as far a titianium go there were some really cool protypes that we may never see because they end the titianium line.
So go ahead and let the world or at least the forum know what you consider the answer to be.

when not even the original poster can do this successfully (since he doesn't have a reason), I think this is a failed experiment.

'twas a dark day for TF when Volkswagen refused to let BB use the bug anymore. That's 1 alternator I would like to have.

Well I fixed my original post because I had some time to think about a reason for both my examples.

It was a dark day for transformers when ______ _______Someone said "lets have Mutants in Beast Wars who transform from beast to beast!"
Don't need to explain that one, do I?!

It was a dark day for Transformers when, in Beast Machines, Optimus Primal said "I am transformed" and instead of actually transforming from beast mode to robot, a flash of light and *poof* he went from one to the other, no actual transforming involved.
A series that had such potential... Not necessarily a "Cybertron", but certainly no "Beast Wars" either.

It was a dark day for transformers when Hasblo absolutely fooked up the alternators and titaniums release. All the problems Hasblo claim to have with those lines, the reason they were discontinued, can all be traced back to Hasblo's inability to get them out the retailers.

... when Starscream bit the dust in the movie. Since then, no cartoon has been as good. Sure, some of the toys have rocked, but what does it matter when their cartoons suck?

I can't remember the time(I was five to six, and not a "transformer-holic yet), but the time period in the U.S. between Action Masters and G2. That was about a year or two when there were no new Tranformer releases, and the Transformer section was probably nothing.
It was also pretty dark when Dreamwave got cancelled, but IDW is shaping up really nicely, so in hindsight, not really that bad of a thing.

I agree heartily!
Lets see..
It was a dark day for Transformers when they showed too much of Megan Fox's body and Sam looking horny when he gazed at her, and not enough of the military fighting the 'Cons and the Tfs themselves.

It was a dark day as they decided to let Dead Metal make a TF show.... Oh no am I having that dream with the Zombies, the monsters dead people and all sorts of pervert stuff?
As they decided to give TFs bad paint jobs!

That isn't completely correct. Transformers holds the record of being sold in public stores each consecutive year somewhere around the world, only behind Barbie and Lego, since it was first released.
It just wasn't around between 1991 and 1993 in the US. In the meantime it was still going strong in the UK/Europe and/or Japan.

It was a dark day for Transformers when Travelers Tales made the Transformers movie game.
(I was hoping to play as Ratchet, bonecrusher, and brawl)
(i also was hoping for a free roam mode where you play as any tf in any city.)

gotta agree there.
first thing i did after completing the TF game? went in a shop, and traded it in for the Armada based TF game, and some money (value and so on).
The Armada game rocked so much ass... Traveller's Tales can't make one good game at all ;P
