Story straight from my Walmart toy manager

Alright, with everyone saying they are seeing restocks and all, and us only getting a couple cases of deluxes that only included Brawl, Swindle, 76 BB, Scorpy, and BC, and having literally nothing else but cyber slammers.. I asked the toy manager today while I had some idle time between setting up new shelves.

He says he can't even order Transformers right now. He also mentioned that when we first got them, he got his ass reamed for putting them out a day early and we couldn't sell them. So the next day we could, and they didn't sell. Then the movie came out and we all know they flew off the shelves. He said he couldn't believe it, called Hasbro to order more, and ever since has been told to wait in line. They won't even take his case orders. They tell him to be glad if he gets anything because Hasbro has no stock at all, period. So we sat talking about it, and the 25th Ann. GI Joes. He said they are flying off the shelf too, and we have 2 major Hot Wheel collectors that come in and nab stuff up. We had one guy come in and grab a whole case of Voyager stuff while he was stocking them. He said luckily he only had one case out and the other case was still hiding, so he waited til the guy left to stock it, so at least a kid or two might get a shot at them.

Like I'd mentioned a few days ago, we have nothing in the back as well. Nothing. I've been climbing around the bins looking for this stuff, and he confirmed he didn't have any more in the back. So at least here in this part of Ohio, the drought is still well alive, as he's called other stores to see if they are in the same boat and they are. He was hoping to have some more on hand to go along with the DVD release, and one of the salaried managers was pressuring him to get more in, but he had to tell them we can't.

I told him I collect them, but don't buy them by the case or anything, and told him a few I was watching for, so he's gonna let me know when we get them, I see him plenty while at work. He himself is collecting GI Joes.

Okay, so there it is, from one employee who isn't a customer asking over the phone or getting a "I don't wanna bother with you" attitude. We stood there talking for 15 minutes or so about it all. Nice guy, but no transformers.

All we have left though out of what we got, when I went to buy something tonight (and didn't) was scorpy, 1 bonecrusher, 1 deluxe brawl, and 5-6 swindles. That's it. I know we had some barricades and 76BB's the other day, I last worked Tuesday, and they were there. Today that's all that we had. No leaders, not even an Ultimate BB. It's sad sad looking over there.

And now we have nothing in the pipes, he wanted some more for the DVD debute, but won't be getting any.

Just got a restock at our local wal mart. G1 Repaint Ratchet, Voyager Prime, '08 Bumbleebee and a Classics Grimlock is what I got this weekend. They also had Classic Rodimus and Cliffjumper but I already had them.

After weeks of empty pegs, there's nothing but Swindle on the TF aisles where I'm at.

Though, I can't say I'm suprised that there's no stock to be found.

Most of the targets have gotten their shipments of the BB 2-pack in even if they haven't shelved them. I expect there to be a 1-2 week period of BB overflow like we had for the G1 Jazz and Starscream.

My area is swimming with figures from all classes for 2 weeks now.

Those suffering from the drought will get their turn ... just have a little patience, jeez!

I've seen it happen quite a few times. People from the west coast on here will tell about the overflowing shelves while use here on the easter side are bone dry. 2 or 3 weeks later ... BAM, east coast gets a mirror image of what the west had.

While the west/east comparo may not be the only angle, it should put things in perspective a little better.

People are getting all worked up over nothing.

Yeah, Madison, WI has been hit with a flood of TF's lately. Local Target had:

Bumblebee 2 Packs (10 of them)
New Wave of Scouts: Elita One, Armorhide, and Air Raid (About 10 of each)
New Deluxes: Payload, Drop Kick, FB Jazz, Dreadwing, LongArm.

Only one missing was Deluxe Arcee. :-(

The wave one deluxes we see now overflowing stores shelves reminds me of late July. Then when August came around we got hit with a big drought.

I say, if there's ones you've been wanting, get them while you can. In November we may be saying,..."wow remember back in October when shelves were overflowing? I miss those days." I read comments like this all throughout August.

Some may think December is going to be the time? Maybe so but Christmas shoppers are going to pick up every last movie toy in sight. Watch!! Then back to drought again in January.

Glenda says,

Wouldn't it be great to get little Johnny the TF movie dvd and a a couple of TF toys for Christmas?!! "Excuse me, Mr. manager man, do you know where I can get that one yellow bumblehopper robot man from the movie?"

"Sorry, all sold out."

LOL!!! I was trying to help a lady sort through what her kid wanted the other day. She was frantically searching through the toys, so I said ... "Excuse me, who are you looking for ... maybe I can help?"

Without looking at me, she replied. "Hippotamoose prime for my son."

TOTALLY reminded me of the movie Big Daddy, Rob Schneiders character ... when he couldn't say the words written on index cards.

She was kinda rude about it, so I just said ... "well, you don't have a chance looking through those deluxes, try voyager and leader classes, because that's the only place you'll find him."

She continued fumbling through the millions of deluxes on the pegs. What a dumb bitch! People can't realize when somebody is trying to help them.

Oh well ...

To be fair, she may have found FAB Prime which is sometimes hidden behind Deluxes.... ;;)

We unloaded a 1900 piece truck tonight, and it had lots of Hasbro boxes, but no transformers. Brian, the toy manager, said we still don't have any set to arrive either, and none for the DVD release. But we did get the DVD's. Lots and lots of them. :D

And they won't sell me one early. :-x

I'm not sure if it's nationwide, but in the Cleveland area, you cannot find a single carded 25th anniv Joe or Cobra. Boxed sets are no problem, I even snared the Cobra Legions set today at Wallyworld. I was lucky enough to find most of the wave one figures, but still need Cobra Officer. Now the wave 2's are coming out but I'm not sure I'm going to continue to buy them. I only saw Lady Jaye and she looked horrible. Zartan, however, will be mine!
