Ebay UK banning any and all G1-style Megatron figures!

PostPosted: Mon Oct 08, 2007 4:45 am

While ebay US and others have already done this, ebay UK are now doing the same.

Ebay have said that no G1-styled Megatron figures will be auctioned off on their site, robot mode or gun mode.

(Selling in robot mode being a much-used loop hole)

Searches will no longer return results for G1-styled Megatrons.

This doesn't bother me though. Me bro already pre-ordered the perfect edition from tfsource (incl. silencer etc).

What do you guys think?

Well I'm having a big case of "Why?".

As far as I'm aware UK laws don't have the same level of strictness as far as toy guns go. It's not like we have armed police everywhere over here, hell guns are a rarity in the UK at the worst of times.

Democracy sucks is why.
It's all hypocritical BS.

I fail to see how an oversized, outdated gun that more than likely isn't manufactured anymore, can be mistaken for a real gun.

I don't think this has anything to do with democracy, I don't remember taking a vote on it, or commons passing a law on it. Ebay have just decided to make their own laws, which is their right I suppose, it sucks but you can always take you business elsewhere. That's whats great about democracy and the free market you have the right to chose.

Yours AK

All those in favour of founding MegaBay.com, say Aye.

*edit*

How about that, it already exists. :P

The UK laws on replica guns are changing. I know that Airsoft replica guns are now harder to purchase. I have a friend that collects them and from now on he will have to register to purchase one. Its a self regulation standard that the Airsoft community and the Government agreed on.

Oddly enough, it is now easier and cheaper to get your hands on a real gun over an Airsoft replica.

It's more than likely an offshoot of this...

Decisions like this always leave me baffled. Penalizing honest everyday people isn't going to solve any problems.

If a criminal wants to commit a crime, and get hold of a weapon, replica or otherwise, to help him do this, he is going to do it. Does anyone think said criminal is going to care if he has to go through official channels or not? We have enough problems with all the guns being smuggled in from Europe, Megatron is the least of their worries.

Can kind of see some of where they're coming from,
Don't fancy reading in the papers about some schemie kid that's been slotted by Plod for waving Megs about.

Doug

With the prices they fetch these days, I can't see a kid jumping on ebay to spend a few hundred dollars on a G1 Megatron. =O

If it was written just like that, I think I may laugh

Sick, but hilariously put!

"Schemie kid slotted by Plod for brandishing weapon, later found to be a Megatron transformers toy" :P

Aren't most violent crimes commited in the UK involving knives anyway? :P

That, or it's about that gang warfare going on only in the dodgiest parts of the country.

I think it reflects poorly on the society in which we live.

Let's not lose sight of the fact that this is a children's toy which can't actually hurt anybody. Regulating real weapons that can hurt people is fine, but penalising people who want replicar or toys guns is just laziness from the authorities.

That's sadly very true.

Plod's too busy filling in paperwork or dealing with 'racism cases' to deal with actual crimes. Meanwhile, round the corner there's a nutter wielding a sniper rifle picking off passers-by.

That's why I'm moving out to the US when I've finished university.

That, and NASA. (And tf availability, better shops, better prices on everything...)

And root beer!

Glorious root beer!

Not that ghastly imitation they sell at ASDA.

If I didn't earn more money here, I would have gone out there and gotten married a long time ago.

Anyhoo... back on topic.

Damn eBay.

Where's the fist-shaking emoticon when you need one?!

I had thought about having special auctions, which are known by collectors to be an MP Megatron auction.

Selling it as Galvatron or whatnot

arent MP figs on ebay overpriced in general?

personally i would rather use a proper online retailer for something this expensive, even if it means paying a bit more

not that im gonna be buying MP05 any time soon, probably only when Tak make a perfect edition

Tfsource sells the perfect edition for more or less £100.

My bro just bought it; it arrives in late december/ early january. It's comprised of the second generation Megatron (no rust problems- yay!) and the silencer- scope pack thing.

And yeah, ebay is more expensive on pretty much everything. But sometimes, it's the only option to us...

I love democracy. Sure beats communism slavery and hunger any day. With communism you can't even celebrate Christmas. I'm telling you communism is evil. Don't fall for radical extremists of any kind.

Yes around late April, early May on ebay.us they took off Mp Megatron, g1 Megatron reissues, vintages auctions. They had to have the orange plug. Now I see alot there now. Seen some with plugs and a few without them. I'm sure ebay.uk will consider doing the same thing a little while after. Well good luck.
