Big Happy Woooshing Sound

I've made a decision.

I'm in the process of selling everything in my collection except for my boxed G1 reissues (TFC and Commemorative) and my Boxed Japanese BW (Neo, II, Reborn).

Everything else is going wooooooosh :)

And I feel good about that.

I guess it just suddenly hit me that all these newer incarnations are not really very dear to me.

I hereby join the ranks of the G1 purists :)

Well congratulations.

I welcome you into our ranks.

There are still a few other G1's that I like, but yeah. It's better to have a strong feeling of good will to your toys.

Those other toys, the ones your getting rid of, they knew that they weren't loved as much and that hurt them terribly. So it's better to let them go to someone who will give them a good and loving home.

Agreed. Not to mention, the other stuff detracts from the beauty of the G1s.

I am in the process of doing the same myself. Started about 4 months ago.

Getting the cash for selling the excess TFs is also a deal sweetner. ;-)

Ofcourse it all goes back into G1s but thats just the icing on the cake.

The stuff i am still undecided on are whether or not to keep my WST and PVC collections and the G1s after series 5 :???:

Hmm...I don't know if I could do that. So many great TFs I've come across in other series....

So--got a Carbombya thread up yet?

I feel so young and ignorant, being able to enjoy the superior detail and articulation of all the newer figures of the last decade.

I guess if nostalgia works for you, it works for you.

Well - I mean no disrespect to people who like the later series - I mean - I am not at "Everything Sukzooorz!" G1er...

What really weighed in on my decision was that I got into collecting Macross and Revoltech as well.

And basically - If I'm going to chose between having G1 Starscream, Armada Starscream,Energon Starscream, Cybertron Starscream, and Movie Starscream ....

OR

G1 Starscream, the SV-51 Ivanov, and some cool Revoltech toys

Well - you get the picture.

No Carbombia thread because I really doubt people on seibertron (the majority of whom are in the US) would want to pay shipping costs for stuff coming from Poland.

If anyone in the UK needs/wants some stuff then maybe I'll put up a for sale thread in Carbombia for them.

Well, some of us, I think have realized that we are not TF or toy collectors per say, but collectors of nostalgia. I, for one, just realized, that the rest of my collection were nothing more than a bunch of kids toys to me, and were detracting from the real loves in my collection.

Thats when I realized that I should not be collecting anything post G1 as I really had little to no appreciation for them and was just being a little OCD.

True, but wen I think of G1, I kinda throw those, and the MP/BT line in there as well now.

Yeah, it's kinda cheating, but only kinda. :P

Cool! A collection should consist of things you really like. I sold the stuff I didn't want before moving to Chicago, and I like very much what I have on display here. If there are a few near-and-dears, it doesn't hurt to have a shelf of miscellany, but paring down to create an excellent display instead of extra clutter can feel great. Also, it's rewarding to know you've *made* money with your hobby.

So - iit never ends :)

Oh - but I kind of fibbed ....

I'm also keeping my Masterpieces and boxed Japanese BW...

or did I say that already?

I really only buy the stuff I like, so I would tend to have mostly MP Seekers and the MP Megatron. The rest would be clutter. The only other ones I would get would be a few non MP Seekers, that would still be G1 stuff though.
