I saw that too...now what is the deal, there is going to be a Walmart exclusive AND a Takara release with his G1 colors, correct?

I haven't seen any pics of a Takara G1 color MP package, has anyone else (or am I waaay off on this assumption?)

The other thing that worries me about Fan to Fan is it looks like the webite hasn't been updated for over a month :-?

Both will be in the G1 anime colors.

Takara's will be an exact replication of the colors.

Wal-Mart's will have the smoke damage (although it'll be less intense as shown on the packaging pictures) like 20th. Anniversary Optimus has.

That's the difference.

Oh and the Takara version will most likely come with US packaging, but have a Japanese logo (like the movie line), or Toys Dreams/Etc (like Red Armada Thrust).

Technically they should be the exact same figure minus the smoke paint.

Bummer, so the Takara release box will not resemble the other Takara MP boxes

USA Editions generally do not carry Takara packaging. However, that doesn't always seem to be the case, so don't take the packaging thing to heart just yet.

This is seriously old news we've known the Takara release of this figure will have different paint apps ever since we heard Takara would be releasing it. The rumour is it will have less or no weathering a little like MP-01 was clean and the Hasbro version had battle damage. I'm also hoping Takara paint his face silver rather than gunmetal, the gunmetal face on the Hasbro version looks out of place and is just a hangover from MP-03 they appear to have forgotten to repaint.

If I recall, isn't SS's face in the g1 toon gunmetal and not silver, or is my memory deserting me.

I was actually hoping Skywarp woul dhave the white face he had in the toon, thugh the silver does look spiffy.

Oh my word! your right!

Guess I always had a different image of SS in my mind. As for skywarps/Thundercrackers faces being white I'd say they are more gray, which in 80's cartoons is as close to silver as you get.

So yeah I take it back I'm quite happy with Hasbro's attempt at Starscream, all that remains is to see if Takara can go one better and remove the weathering.

well if that means the weathering will not be present on the Takara release, then I'm skipping the Wal-Mart version, I hate that crap.. big black splotches on my toys..

And yes, Starscream is the Ethnic/Minority Transformer of the seekers...

Thundercracker and Skywarp are the white boys...HAAHAHAH Cracker...Tee Hee

this discussion leaves open some really rascist comments and jokes that can be made about Starscream's character.. good thing I'm not a Rascist!!!
