Anyone have him? Would you recommend him or not? I saw a review of him on YouTube today. I never much cared for Beast Wars, and Transformers turning into animals (no offense to anyone who does). But this guy seems a bit interesting. I must have past him up a thousand times in stores because he never impressed me much. Now I kind of wonder if I judged him too harshly. He kind of reminds me, after the video, of Protoform Prime in size, ball joints, and proportions. Any thoughts?

I have the original version (BW X version) And I love him to bits. He is very small for a deluxe, thats why he was packed in with an overlarge "surfboard".

Good articulation, different transformation and good colours (both versions).

Easily worth the $10.

Just how small is he then? I looked in the gallery, and all I see was him next to T-Rex Megatron, which tells me nothing since I don't have a T-Rex Megatron.

He's not actually that small, standing about the same height as Cybertron Downshift and CDF Hot Shot. He comes with a surfboard as a homage to his Transmetal Form and because there was nowhere on the figure to include a Cyberkey gimmick, so it was incorporated into the Surfboard. I quite like the figure, though he has a few minor flaws (such as no proper hands, and the beast mode head doesn't fix in place entirely, leaving a small gap between the front and back halfs when in beast mode), but nothing as major as limbs not fixing in place. Joints on mine are quite tight, and he has a good range of articulation allowing for plenty of poses (especially martial arts style).

Also, the surfboard turns into a bazooka. This may or may not be a plus for you, but it is for me.

I've passed on him. I got the BW 10th anniversary version and I don't like the mold. I'm not a big fan of the Megatron mold either.

I* have often thought of getting him as an alternative to the original designs.. but I'd buy the 10th anniversary versions over the cybertron ones.. exact same toy, different colors, which are more like the originals in Beast Wars..

I think he's awsome, he and green T-Rex Megs are two of my favorite figures. While I do wish his hands rotated, he can make some cool looking poses.

He's pretty sweet. I like him a lot, he's uber poseable. The only complaint I have about him is the lack of rotating wrists. Other that though, he rocks. Definitely worth the price.

On a related note, I was in the toy section of a local Carrefour a few weeks back and they had literally 10 pegs filled with nothing but Cybertron Primal.

good, if not excellent toy. superb articulation, and i was surprised that the joints were tight, considering this toy is a ball-joint wonderfest. almost every joint in this fig are mounted on spheres. though in the long run, loosening may occur if you play with this toy much. 8)

If you want a deluxe Optimus Primal, could try and find the Beastwars 10th 2 pack of Primal and Megs at TRU. Or go to BBTS and look up the JBW figs. I got the Megatron and while the colors are exact, it's a deluxe. But Takara is releasing the leader mold of Primal and Megs in the cartoon colors.

As most have said he's an awesome fig. Very poseable. And He does have hands. Very nice and poseable hands. They can make a fist, and have an independently poseable thumb. Pretty cool.

Mine has no problmes in beast ode, everything connect perfectly. Head and chest saty in place.

The Transformation is quite complex for a Deluxe.

I would have liked him to have some swords, but he's stll a very nice figure. And you should look into the BW series. I was just like you, never really liked the fatc that animals turned into Robots, and never liked the look of the figures, but I got the 10th Anniv Waspinator on impulse at Target one day, and really liked him. I then scored my Original Takara release Cheetas (look at my sig), and am loving the poseability and look of the figure.

While i'm not attracted to many of the figures, i'm finding myslef looking at the galleries and reviews now see if i can find some more I like. Original Primal mold is on the list currently.

Is the 10th anniversary version available now, or have I missed it? I don't like the Megatron mold because of his big T-Rex hand/head thing. I know, I'm picky.

You missed it. The 10th Anniv versions came out before the Cybertron ones. I prefer the Megs mold over Munky Prime but it isn't a bad mold. Get one if you find it but I wouldn't pay too much over MSRP ($9.99 + tax) for it.
