It depends on the condition of the G1 version and whether you're bothered about having an authentic 80s toy as opposed to a reissue. I suspect the reissue will be in better condition so I'd probably plump for that. Does the G1 have all its accessories?

Watch out with them original '80's Soundwaves. Their joints tend to get really loose at the legs/pelvic area. If his joints are good, and the door works, as well as him having no cosmetic damage, sure.

okay, I think you guys sold me on the reissue. gold trim around the tape deck door has some wear, but the rest of the figure looks awesome. The door works, but ravage doesnt come with his weapons. Also, the description states "not too loose" so that is kind of sketchy. In the pic his legs are rotated outwards as well. Do you guys know if the reissue has metal parts?

It does, yes. So does the Hasbro reissue, just FYI.

No problem. I just really worry about the leg joints. I have a G1 original Soundwave. He is in great shape, and his joints are still tight. But his leg/pelvic joints are not quite as they used to be simply because he's an old fella. He still stands tall and straight though. But I am wary of others who I am almost positive played with theirs a LOT more than I ever played with mine.

One warning. Plastic quality on G1 is superior to that of the Reissue.

lol, that's cool. I'm like that with some of mine. The casstes got a lot of play, and they survived. As did a few others. But for some reason, I didn't play with Soundwave too much, and he was my favorite Decepticon toy then, and still is now. Kind of odd, yes?

I'd pick reissue.
