The Laser Rod had LED's in one of their hands, that allowed their swords to light up. Another gimmick was that their waist was held together by a rubber band. Just twist the figure by the waist and let go: he springs back in a sword slashing fashion. Unfortunately, the rubber band is the main weakness of the group, sometimes the band has snapped and the figure split in half.

They were also some of the coolest Transformers ever and among the G2 molds that deserve to be released in other lines.

Would love to see the Autobots released as classics Ironhide(red) and Kup(gold).

Give him an old style beacon and Sizzle would be cool repainted as Armada Red Alert but with an old style police car alternate mode, hence the beacon.

Should've been Alts.

Probably wrong, but I think the LEDs would also light up some portion of their alt modes as well, engine headers, exhaust pipes...

O yeah, that's right. In the smaller figures the light had to be moved for the transformation, from the engine to the hands. Optimus Prime had the lights integrated in his right hand as well as his headlights.

Sometimes the Laser Cycles were included in the Laser Rod group as they had the light-up gimmick.

I only had Laser Prime and he kicked ass... Real jerk to my other [G1] TFs though, kept bending his knees like it was all that important to be able to sit down.

Wow thanks guys these transformers sound really cool wish I had know about them back in the day would have picked them up. But there most likely really hard to come by due to rubber band in the waste so they will cost an arm and leg on ebay or at the very least a kidney.
