I thought I would post the top Classics figures for anyone that just got into the hobby and want a few good figures of the best line I've seen in a long time.
Current.
(If you look you can still find these gems on a shelf near you, I've seen these ones on shelves in my area just a couple of days ago.)
These include..
1.)Ramjet- By far one of the coolest releases, great jet form and I love the head sculpt. One thing if you do find him check the paint job and get the cleanest one you can.
2.)Cliffjumper- I recommend buying him if you don't want to spend 20 to 40 bucks on a Bumblebee. He is a great mold, but his paint scheme is lacking, the silver on red just doesn't do anything for me.
3.)Mirage- He should be the easiest to find, he also is extremely poseable. He is a great all around figure with a fun alt. mode, a little thin around the waist but fun.
4.)Jetfire- If you don't own this one, get him now! He is easily top 3 of my personal favorites, great homage with a lot of guns.
5.)Prime- Not the best Prime, but a good one at that. If you find him at retail, buy him. But don't waste internet prices on him, he has a fun transformation but the arm kibble really is a turn-off.
Next will be the ones you have to buy on the secondary market.(unless you are lucky)
1.)Starscream- Great mold and if you find the redo he's even better, By far my favorite SS. If I had one problem with him , it would be that they could have painted him better, he's a bit bland. If you find him for less than 25 bucks buy him.
2.)Megatron- I like that he's a gun. I also like the bot mode I wish he had a better paint scheme, that purple does nothing for me. But he is a very interesting mold and he is fun to transform. like SS if you see him for less than 25 buck get him.
3.)Astrotrain- He for some reason became very hard to find in stores but luckily he sells for far lower on the secondary market. He is a really great figure and his shuttle mode is fantastic. He was what I was hoping for with the retakes on G1 characters. Bullet train, not as much. If you see him for under 12 bucks get him.
4.)Bumblebee- Buy him! I can't think of anything else to say. probably the gem of the set. great alt. mode and the best bot mode ever for the Beester. I would pay up to 30 bucks for one.If I already didn't have 3
Alright, I touched on a few of my favorites from the line and I hope it helps with starting a good classics collection. I know some of you are wondering why there is now Magnus/Skywarp on here. I thought they weren't a common enough release but if you see them online for less than 30 buy them. (Skywarp is my favorite figure from the classics line) If you have any questions ask, I'm sure if I can't answer it someone else would.
Happy Trails.

On Megatron, it isn't so much the purple that bugs me, it's that lime green on his wings when they're opened up behind him, ugh. Otherwise, a great figure.

I just don't think that you can go wrong with any of the Classics line. They're all great in some respect.

The must-haves in my opinion are: Jetfire, Bumblebee, Mirage, Grimlock, Prime, Skywarp, Ramjet.
The good but not great: Megatron, Starscream, Hot Rod, Astrotrain
Forget about: Cliffjumper, Ultra Magnus

Why do you consider Prime not as brilliant as the rest?
I think he's one of the best Primes ever made and he looks fantastic!

I picked up Ramjet and Mirage yesterday, and I also think they're great.
Although Mirage is a little scrawny, he has a fun transformation, and is one of the most posable figures I have (although... my collection isn't really big enough for that to mean a great deal

)
Of the Decepticon jets, I have SS, Skywarp and Ramjet. As cool as SS and Skywarp look, I prefer Ramjet because you can have his guns mounted on his arms (rather than in his hands) without his wings interfering.
I think the Classics Prime / Magnus is great. I have them both posed in typical "action flick" poses on my shelf, along with Jetfire.
I intentionally avoided Cliffjumper and Astrotrain when I saw them in the shops yesterday - I already have BB and Astrotrain looked rather... scrawny (even more so than Mirage), and I'm low on display space. Is Astrotrain really that good a figure? If so, I may go and see if there's any left.

yup, he's one of the best Primes ever! but i guess many people are turned off by the arm kibble and the fact that unless you kitbash this toy, there will never be any trailer available for it.

really from an efficent point of view the only classics you NEED are Megatron and Jetfire. These will go down as awesome.
after a big gap then there is astrotrain,
but seriously focus all attention on Megs and Jet!
save your money

The best of the best of Classics? Jetfire, Bumblebee, Mirage, and Ramjet.
I'd say Grimlock and Cliffjumper are the weakest.

My faves in the Classics line would have to be Prime, Jetfire, Starscream, Skywarp, Ramjet and Bumblebee. I don't see the big fuss about Megatron? He looks like some sort of "Nerf" gun to me. oh yeah, really realistic (insert sarcasm here). But hey, whatever floats your boat. Oh, and I do like Grimlock's alt mode, but his robot mode, 'not so much'.

ahahaha! quite true.

for me, Classics has the best voyager lineup ever. Jetfire and OP are simply the best, and i'm getting Megatron this week, so i guess i'll just go on and like him LOL.
but the best deluxes are Bumblebee, Ramjet, Mirage. Not so much on Roddy and G'Lock. Grimlock, if he weren't that rare, would be one of the weakest releases in terms of robot mode.
seekers are great. the best seeker incarnation outside of MPs. but they could have done SS better, especially with the face. that's why i consider Ramjet the best seeker out of this line; nice colors, pretty solid construction, and the upper arms are also much more poseable than SS because there are no wings to hinder arm movement.

To be honest, there isn't a Classic yet I haven't liked. I don't have Astrotrain yet, though I'd really like to. I wasn't sure about Grimlock at first, with the head to feet transformation, but he has really grown on me, and the posability's good too.
Most of the figs, I've admittedly modded in some way (only ones I haven't are Jetfire and Mirage), but the only things I've changed at all are paintjobs and the occasional face (CJ and BB, for instance), and removing the connector to Meg's cannon so it's removable.

i want to get Astrotrain too, seeing that he's a perennial pegwarmer here. just waiting for a sale or something to make worthwhile.

i really hope to complete the Classics lineup (without Botcon) sometime this year or maybe early next year. even considering getting CJ and Devastator, even though they're weak recolors of existing molds.

here's hoping, though i hear that they're doing a proper Ultra Magnus this time around, so i'm guessing that toy's gonna get it's own trailer.

I agree with you! ramjet is sorta common now, and has a different mold from skywarp and starscream! thats a plus.
I don't like how cliffjumper is a repaint but what the hell, a repaint of a kick ass mold!!! thats a plus
Bumblebee...... My favorite character and my favorite of the line! the mold is just awesome! nothing else to say. Although he is small, that's show accurate. i give him a 10/10 yeah!
Starscream, totally agree with you, soooooooo blandd but awesome figure!! too bad my red is shipping!!
Prime, I like him, too bad his head can't look up or down, its just there,he kinda looks down.... still recommended.
Rodimus, my least favorite classic? I don't know, I like him, but not as much as the others, mine is a pain in the ass to pull out the feet and the elbow... still if you see him, less then 15, its a pick up...
So that's my take, I still need to get astrotrain, magnus, skywarp and grimlock....
