Looks like they've sorted out the colours on Animated Starscream

This may well be old news by now, but since I'm in the UK I've only just received my copy of the latest Club mag. The Animated toy preview shows Starscream sporting his proper light grey colour scheme rather than the blue (possibly Thundercracker) prototypes that have been seen previously. This toy has just been elevated to 'must buy' status for me, something that not even a G1 paint scheme could acheive on the Movie version. Yay.

I agree. I've never purchased a Starscream figure, ever, in 18 years. This will be my first.

Oh I've got quite a 'Screamer collection, it's just that I wasn't going anywhere near the movie version with a ten foot pole.

Then why is he still blue on the cover?

The cover image showing the animation artwork is quite dark generally. While the main colour there looks bluish grey the extreme highlights on the arm and wings look far more light grey. Either one could be what we end up seeing in the cartoon as far as I can make out. The toy pictures on page 5 are definately different to the bluish protos that have been floating around. I'd love to share the image but don't have a scanner or camera handy at the momment and I don't think it's exactly kosher to post images from FunPub content on the boards unless it's from an open part of their site. If I'm wrong about this and I am allowed to post the picture let me know and I'll grab my brothers camera. I've been meaning to do some new collection pics anyway now that most of my stuff is out of storage.

Animated Starscream is blue. Why can't people accept it?

Because just like Machine Wars Starscream and MP03 he wouldn't fit into my shrine to the Screammiester?
I'm only saying what I see here. From the first time I saw the blue version, months back now, I was predicting a G1 repaint at some stage. Now I've got an image sat in front of me showing the toy in G1 colours, from the so called 'Special Preview Issue' of the club mag. As far as I can tell that makes it an official Hasbro image. I don't see how the difference could be put down to lighting so either
a)there are a few different proto designs and it's unknown which one they're going with,
b)Hasbro have caved in to fan presure and are going with traditional colours or
c)they'll do what I originally thought and put out a show acurate version in blue and a G1 homage version(although I wasn't expecting to see anything of this potential varient until closer to the line being launched but what the hey).

Hasbro is notorious for publishing photos (and creating packaging) that don't match what you see on the actual toys.

I have to say that this is pretty convincing stuff that Starscream is blue...
(and if you go by the Armada cartoon, he does look like this after he gets powered up, so there is precedent)

All I can say is this-
"Actual product made vary from stock images"
Which means there's an equal chance in us getting the blue one or this greyish one. Who knows?

Or you could check out all his pics
here.
As for Screamer being blue, there's still a lot of evidence to suggest he will be. I suspect there will be a G1 repaint but I'm yet to see conclusive proof the show screamer will be anything other than blue, and to be quite honest I don't care either way. It's an awesome looking mold/design and will look awesome in either colour scheme IMO.

Starscream looks pretty good. If not for that dumb orange smily mouth, and super-chin....

Blue? Grey? Who cares. What we need is this sexy scheme:

Excuse my crappy edit.

Nice. Since the Thundercracker deco = Starscream, does that mean that the Skywarp deco = Thundercracker?

Nice indeed. Despite the Leno chin, I would buy this mold in 3 schemes if they actually did it.

Yes, but one of them will be a BotCon exclusive.

So long as you don't look at the head I would agree that the general design is good. That bizarre head ruins it for me though.

It wouldn't be Hasbro if it were any other way.
This time it will be G1-colored Starscream. Could you imagine the uproar?

I'd poop myself laughing.

After I was done shooting milk out of my nostrils, I'd shed a single tear, knowing I will never spend the amount it costs for one of those exclusives on a single figure.

Head smead I like the 'toon design including the head, it's different but not unwelcome to myself.

They can repaint all Animated figures G1-style as Botcon exclusives, I won't buy any.

I think his chin is a little extreme. If it were a little bit smaller, I'd be happier.
I'll probably buy it anyway. The rest of the design (and the rest of the head) rocks hard.
