Characters we're tired of.

Have you ever looked at some of the figures that are available, and thought "Oh, they're making another version of that character?" This can also apply to repaints. Here's my list:

Optimus Prime: Hasbro'll never let it happen, but I am kind of sick of seeing a new or three or four new Prime's every single year. Very tiresome to me. Maybe if they'd change his characterization up a little bit I'd be more prone to liking every new variation.

Ultra Magnus(white Prime repaint): I just find it boring, and I'm not alone. When one thinks of Ultra Magnus, what do they think of? I doubt it's a white and blue repaint of Prime, they probably think of the G1 or Rid character that transforms into a car carrier, and bears very little resemblence to Optimus Prime when the trailer is attached. Which is why the new Titanium is gonna be so awsome, cause the cab doesn't even transform.

Cheetor: I don't dislike the character, but I'm getting tired of the original mold getting released when they could release Tigertron instead. There are 4 Cheetor original mold versions, and they aren't drastically different from each other at all: Original, Fox Kids, Hasbro 15th, and the upcoming E-Hobby. Why no love for Tigertron?

Hot Rod repaints of Hot Shot: Yeah, I don't see the point. If they wanted to make an homage to Hot Rod, why not just make a brand new figure like they did with Rodimus?

Well, those are my picks, you got any? And if your wondering why Starscream isn't on the list, it's cause the Starscream molds can be used as just "other seekers", and cause it's nice to see a Starscream in every series.

Optimus prime and megatron. As a matter of fact lets go with every transformer that has a G1 name. How about Hasbro branchout a little bit and come up with new names. I know they can do it,they do it in every series. They always have new names but always the same leader's and generals. I want to see a new story with never heard of characters. Lets expand the universe. I am just ranting. I love transformers so do my kids I would just like to see more. I am not asking for too much.....am I?

Starscream tops the list here. I don't know why there's so many starscream fanboys out there, but while he's had some decent toys, he's always just been screechy and annoying. He're hoping that the movie version of Starscream doen't decide to sound like his predecessors. Would it have killed them to have Thundercracker in Classics instead?

Megatron gets a pass because he never really looks quite the same. Compare Cybertron Megatron to Classics Megatron. Compare either of those to Beast Wars Megatron. IT's not a look... It's a lifestyle.

I wouldn't mind seeing a bit more variety in Optimuses, come to think of it.

G1 homages in general just got done to death during Energon... There's a bigger franchise out there to draw from, and plenty of more obscure corners even in G1 that have yet to be retread... A Classics Optimus Primal or Bludgeon would definitely be interesting.

Optimus Prime: As much as I love Optimus Prime, (he is my biggest hero after all) even I'm getting bored of the same old look every year. It'd be nice to see him as something besides a red truck for once. Megatron gets a new look all the time, why not Prime?

That's all I can think of at the moment.

Starscream is popular because you can hug him and squeeze him and give him a big ol' smooch on the lips :P Hasbro should try using the more obscure characters...they seem to be suffering the " this is a popular character, lets keep cloning him and reissuing him every few years with a slightly different look" syndrome. Not that it isn't bad of course, but I wonder if that doesn't tend to backfire on them from time to time. Plus it would make the regular characters seem more special to get if they were one among many different ones, instead of among a sea of their clones.

I'm kind of tired of seeing the same remakes in every single TF toyline. They've all got Optimus Prime, Megatron, etc, etc, etc. Lately they've even been bringing in Rodimus or Hot Rod and thats kind of cool. But Optimus is still the one in charge. I'm also tired of there being a new line every two years. ARmada/Energon/Cybertron may be one storyline but they've got reformats for every frickin' character in all 3 stages of the story. I'm sorry but no matter how many transformations Optimus goes through, no matter how many merges he gains, he still sucks compared to the original. And that goes for all of them in my opinion. G1 is, and always will be the best of them all.

Not a specific character, but I've been wondering lately if they've going to saturate the market too much.

Although I've been happily supporting them, buying figure after figure, I think that eventually there will be a point where a red truck called Optimus will get old and I (and other people) won't feel like picking it up.

I started thinking about this when they mention the next series after the movie will be Heroes. It sounds an awful lot like Classics (re-imagined G1). Actually, I guess there's a theory they may be the same. Supposing they're different toys, though, isn't that a bit much as I suppose we'll have yet another re-imagining of Optimus and Megatron but still based on G1?

As much as I've liked getting some cool hommages, I sometimes feel they have to pull more new/unique characters and forms out.

I guess Starscream is one I'm particularly tired of (dodges blasts in his direction). I was so happy with Starscream from Energon as a cool hommage. Then they did a bit better with Energon Starscream that's the same figure with a closer paint job. Then they brought out Cybertron Starscream, who although huge is kind fo still the same style. Then Classics Starscream (who sometimes I think isn't quite as good as the Energon Starscream at being a classic)... I guess the movie one is drastically different, but if they come back and do a Heroes one that's again a gray jet, it seems a bit much...

Just my opinion....

Everybody says they want a new look for Optimus but not that long ago fandom was in uproar because Movie Op wasn't a flat front and was :gasp: blue with red flames! If anything, I'm tired of Megatron always changing. Gun, tank, smaller tank, gobot, croc, dinosaur, dinosaur with rollerblades, dragon, werewolf/dragon, Big Giant Head, tank again, jet (though carring around his old tank body was a nice touch), gay batmobile, gun again, jet again... enough! RiD Megs was everything they could squeeze out of it (a freaking HAND!) until they realized if you throw it down the steps you could get another few shapes and call it Galvatron! I don't even buy Megatron anymore until I'm 100% sure he's cooler than the obligatory Galvatron thats only 4 months away! The one character I'm tired of is... who the hell am I kidding, I'm a TF junky. If I find it and it bears a passing resemblince(?) I'm probably buy it same as every one else. Unless its a Minicon. They suck.

I am sick of Prime and Megs, sorry, but I for some odd reason, want Starscream VS Rodimus as leaders. I am sick of the "Wanna be Cheetor and HotRod's basterd son" that we call HotShot, I hate what they pass off as Jetfire these days and patheticaly stupid 'cons.

Someone mentioned the Transformer that transforms into a piano from Target 2006, but not GUILTOR!!!!!

Hard to get more obsucre than that.

What I'd enjoy seeing is a Transformers series that doesn't even involve Optimus and Megatron. Some sort of deepspace exploration team, searching for energon around the time that Cybertron started dying, maybe. There could be one or two somewhat iconic characters, maybe Kup is in charge or something. And a handful of others, battling more that just Decepticons. Decepticon involvement wouldn't have to be eliminated, of course, and they could bring back some of the more dangerous opponents like Six-Shot and the Combaticons, as sort of a "so crazy even Megatron doesn't want 'em" roster.

I guess this can go either way really, but since there are so many Transformer names within the confines of G1, why not pick some different names for new figures? The later part of the BW toy line was using G1 names for characters that really had nothing to do with the names. Silverbolt always pops into my head, as the Fuzor and Arielbot commander really don't have much in common. Hommages are cool at times; C-Smokescreen was the figure that C-Crosswise probably always should have been. But why 'Sideways"? Why not Doubledealer or Punch/Counterpunch? There's an entire universe of characters, why not use some of the other ones? I like the figure for Manterror, but do you mean to tell me that that couldn't have been Skullgrin? I don't know. I love Starscream, but why not Needlenose or Windsweeper as a name? Change things up a little.
As far as the shows are concearned, I really haven't seen much of a show since Armada first came out, but I don't know why if we are always going to have the same names why we don't get much character continuity, outside of the obvious ones (Prime, Megatron, Hot Shot, Starscream, etc.) Why Inferno in Energon but then never again? Even if a character gets killed off, just bring them back. Someone already mentioned how they get reformatted modes for like every series, or upgrades or what have you.
While all of that may have lacked cohesion, I still and always will hate Minicons.

We've had a bit too much Soundwave as of recent. Cybertron, Titanium, and the reissue.

Prime is omnipresent in an increasingly irritating fashion.

I worry about you Sunstar, i really do... ;)

Im sick of Prime clones. He looks the same in every damn series, and his only repaint is a naked ultra magnus and the black one that looks incedible, but costs the same as a decent sized house.

How about HasTakTomy stop re-releasing him every 20 minutes and make us an MP Soundwave instead?

Im not sick of any particular charecter, I think keeping recognisable names and charecters helps keep the fandom. Remember what happened when the movie replaced the leaders?

What I am sick of is crap and or totally unrelated magatrons...

In the last 4 seasons, Prime has been a fire truck, an articulated truck, and articulated truck, and a fire truck, and with the exception of energon, they have all been prety similar colours, and pretty good too.
Megs... he has been: a multicolour collection of random ****, a picknmix coloured tank, with a head that is more befitting of an insecticon, a miscoloured galvatron clone (his best incarnation of late) and the batmobile after unicron has been sick on it.

The poor guy hasnt even got a consistent head design. No wonder Bay f**ked it up so, there isnt a consistent Megatron design to go off....

EDIT, and why, when I type fire truck without the space, do I get '*********'?
