Here is a link to Jin Saotome's custom of Megatron in silver and gold, a little over the top, but you get the idea..
http://www.angelfire.com/mech/jinsaotom ... Movie.html

I personally love the new Premium line, and as we all know there have been 2 that have been released so far:

Metallic Voyager Megatron with clear-ish white Ice and shiny metallic colored body..

Metallic molded and colored Voyager Ratchet..

I want the leader class, and since Hasbro has announced leader class is in that category, it's all that much more possible to get a leader class Megatron in metallics with silver and some gold.. I can't wait..

So let us examine the possible repaints in the premium line up, will that be restricted to metallic repaints or realistic repaints as well, I. E. Bonecrusher, Brawl, and Blackout..??

what Metallic are you most interested in getting?

Are you looking to replace and sell your regular versions?

Honestly, The ACToys version is what i think the Leader class repaint will mostly look like, normally when we see something on AC toys website they tend to follow that design, like the US Starscream and Skywarp images we saw awhile back...

Here's the original seibertron article about it:
http://www.seibertron.com/news/view.php ... 43&f_cat=4

Here are images of the Voyager and the ACToys Metallic Megatron:

Voyager premium: Honestly, the ice looks like real ice as apposed to the blue crap they slapped on him before.. so I know alot of you dislike the ice, but I LIKE IT NOW, THAT THEY WENT WITH CLEAR COLORED.. I mean he's in ice almost all the way through the movie until the ending.. so that's cool by me.. I love it.. i just want the Leader class in that color now.. AHHHH My eyes........so...........shinny.. ahhhh. passing out........ can't take the light.... thud..

The fact that the Premium Figure's packaging will all be like this really makes the MISB collector in me smile big time!!! I love it.. very cool easy to display no need to open, and in robot mode already!! perfect...In My Opinion..

Ratchet Metallic:

If they ever do a Metallic leader class like this, i'll have to be rushed to the hospital for immediate heart attack!!!

Shinning in the sun!!!

Anyways, my newest and most favorite toy from the movie is undoubtedly the Premium Voyager Megatron
Image

Image  Because who else could resurrect Megatron from the depths then a Mad scientist like the highly devious, Dr. Arkeville!!!

i'd buy a few of those. the metallic prime for sure, then maybe a GOOD blackout? and an ironhide would be cool too! the megs is badass,a chrome version of him? i'd be all over it!!

I think that I would rebuy Leader Megs if it turned out that well. I never even checked my local Best Buys for the Voyager Megs because I'm just not a big fan of the mold, but it does look infinitely better than the original. I don't think that there are any others that I would buy a second time though.

How in the city of Iacon did Optimus Prime turned out that way? I mean from the paintjob it almost looks like a Binaltech version of him, what really throws me off my wagon is the chrome parts. That looks like a really tedious job, I couldn't find the patience to do such a miraculous job on him. I only wish that Hasbro or mainly Takara reissued the movie Transformers as Binaltech counterparts, that'll be awsome...

Well here is the real kicker that gets mew, every time I look back at those custom paint job images on prime... the guy never modified the actual toy!!! I mean the plastic is just painted over.. the details are already there!! It's amazing just how intricate and special the mold is for Leader class prime.. and with him being all grey and crappy in the original coloring released by Hasbro you really do not notice how detailed he really is, until the chrome and additional detailing colors brings it out!!!

Take a look at these Comparison photos for example:
Image
now look at how well the detail turned out here:
Image
Image

now if Hasbro puts 1 tenth the detail that this custom has in their final metallic painted version, he would be leaps and bounds over his intial release...
Image
I mean, the detail is already molded into the plastic, it's simply amazing!!
Image

I mean it doesn't look like it is, but its there, hidden by crummy Grey plastic molding..

Even if it will cost me a premium and shipping, I would want a Premium Ironhide, if only to complete my Autobot cast from the movie.

Ice sure looks good on metallic Megs.

@skywarp-2: i think the ACToys Leader Megs is a fan-repaint, not an official one. the chrome finish on the forearms look a little spotty on some places, sign of drybrushing. though in fairness it LOOKS convincing enough when viewed from afar.

my guess is that if Hasbro/Takara would make another go at Leader-class figures, they'd do it like Ratchet and Megs, mold the parts out of metalized plastic instead of painting over. but that's just my theory.

oh, and yes, Jeremy Irons would make a PERFECT Dr. Arkeville...i was looking at Tommy Lee Jones but his face just doesn't cut it LOL.

:MAX:

I wonder if the Lawson's Japanese Exclusive repaint of Blackout with realistic stylings will become part of the domestically released Premium line up? I mean, some figures just don't have a Metallic shine and since Hasbro's announcement states that the best from the line will get realistic or movie accurate repaints in the premium line, then I would assume that the lawson repaint might be a possibility..? What do you guys think??

Blackout should be shoo-in. He is the best Decepticon Voyager figure.

I am so going to get starscream. P.S if they make one. I'm also going to get metallic ratchet because mine was destroyed by kitbash fever

I love the Metalic ones, and since I don't have most of the regular ones I'll be getting these, I hope.

I mean the price of the figs + shipping will adup to just a bit more of what a deluxe costs over here.
So yea I like em and I'll be boddering to get them.

Metallic voyager Megs was the only one I was really interested in, but he was gone by the time I got to BB... ;__;

But hrm. A lot of the deluxe molds -- Dropkick, for example -- would look great with a metallic finish. Might be interested in some of those.

A shiny red Ironhide would be love.

Oh, that would be a wonderful sight indeed a shinny red metallic movie Ironhide would be like making Megatron voyager class in metallic silver.. a no brainer!!! I would absolutely buy that custom!!! Then again if they did the black version of Ironhide, with some greyish painting in certain areas to accentuate the facial features and inner workings of his robotic parts, that would be a huge success for him as well.. just molding him in Black won't do, he needs highlights in areas so you can see the detail...

Every time I see that prime repaint ... I nearly **** myself. Such a great job ... i'm speechless ... EVERY time. I forget who did it, but if he/she ever reads this ... contact me. I will pay for your prime painting skills in a heart beat.

The premium releases, while a good idea ... will NOT be purchased by me. If they came out first, that's one thing ... but not after the slap in the face after my buying 2 of each movie toy already.

F that!!!!

Okay, maybe I would buy Prime. They would probably F that up anyway. There would surely be areas of dull gray plastic. I'd rather put food on the table of somebody here, rather than dump more money into the hasblow situation.

Ok I'll give you that, and as far as that customizer guy, I'll send you a Prime to customize, and pay you for it.. n0ot too much though, i want to save some money for the Premium figures coming out...but as far as the older ones I already bought, I'm gonna sell them on eBay so I get my money back...

i have yet to purchase any of the toy line, due to the fact that i do not feel that the toys do the movie justice, i am also holding my breath for a premium metal figure line, if it transforms so be it, but i want a toy to show the level of detail the movie gave the bots.

What you are talking about is what I have come to slowly realize as a "Pipe dream" and that would be the Masterpiece line up. There may be some condfusion on what the Premium Metallic line actually is..which is just repaints of what has already been released..

Now granted the Custom on the front page of this thread discussion is in fact very detailed, it is just a repaint of the regular old Leader Class Optimus Prime from the movie line up..

A Masterpiece Movie line up, would be more along the lines of what you are interested in.. which sadly will not come about for many years I'm afraid..if not ever.. but only time will tell.. but as far as the premium line it's just repaints, but they are in metallics and actually do justice to what they were meant to be in the film, and that is shiny goodness!!

A Movie Masterpiece line... We had to wait 20 years for the MP Convoy. I never thought they'd release one. Maybe another 20 years then. I just wish to see a Movie MP in my lifetime.

word! on your reply to my post skywarp2.

As to this new guy ... I second the question. What?

Judging by your comments, you don't own any movie figures. How exactly does that allow you to make such a clouded blanket statement?

I'll agree ... some of the movie figures are terrible. Some are absolutely fantastic, and even outshine most binaltechs in the articulation dept.

I really want to give you a warm welcome ... since it's your first post and all, but you're really making it tough for me.

Please explain.

Yes, I Am New To The Forum. As To Welcoming Me, Thanks, Yet You Dont Make Me Feel All That Welcome With The Accusations. Yes I Have Not Purchased A Single 1 Of The Movie Line For Myself. Its A Live Action Movie, I Think The Figures Should At Least Reflect That In The Way They Look, And The Materials They Are Made From. However I Have Purchased And Gave 4 Of The Line To My 4 Year Old Nephew For His Birthday.

Thank You Sky For Explaining The Difference, Did Not Mean To Offend Any One With My Terminology Ignorance. The Reason I Joined This Forum Was Due To That Picture Posting, While On A Crusade Across The Internet To Try And Find/Track Down Some High Quality Figures "Masterpiece Line". Don't worry. Hasbro can never give us a paint job this good. Though doesn't mean you can't take matters into your own hands and pick up those brushes.

good job!! ;)^

well a Masterpiece Movie line idea, i think would be top notch, it would certainly be nice to see an actual movie accurate Blackout, or Starscream.. granted they won't be exactly like the Movie, but they will be the closest toy ever made, and be quite expensive.. the good news is that with a Masterpiece Movie line up, Takara Tomy and Hasbro have lots of time to perfect each toy... unlike the Ultimate crap, or excuse me, Ultimate Bumblebee.. why is it, when a company places Ultimate in front of it's product, it actually ends up being ultimate garbage.. looking at you Ultimate Marvel comics..

Anyways, i debated the Masterpiece Movie line up over and over again with others here, and for some reason they just couldn't get past the Masterpiece line up being just G-1, and not the movie or any other figures that would deserve that treatment..It's like i threatened them with the possibility of them never getting another G-1 masterpiece again..

What they didn't realize was that i was suggesting a seperate Masterpiece toy line.... that while one release came out, and we waited for the next, a Movie Masterpiece was being released in the interim..kinda like now we are waiting for the next MP to be announced, but if it were possible, why not have a Movie Masterpiece being released next, then a G-1 MP.. and so forth....each other time one is done releasing another pops up and they swithc off back and forth..

there could be a design team that specifically works on the MP movie line, and the regulars on the G-1 MP line.. if they need help from either team they would collaborate from time to time, thus ensuring the best product possible through healthy rivalry.. and good news for us G-1 fans and the new comers to the brand.. the Bayformer fans..

welcome!!

by the way, back on the subject of this thread, I would love to see a premium figure repaint of Ironhide in metallic red, with silver and black detailing.. that would soooo rule!!!

here is a lesson in why metallic paints just make a toy look better:
http://www.firebladecomics.com/protoformOPcustom.html

trust me, you'll like what you see:
http://www.firebladecomics.com/protoformSScustom.html

oh an I imagine this is what the premium Metallic Prime might end up looking like if they do him in metallics:
http://tfans.com/talk/lofiversion/index.php/t78540.html

robot replicas could be soo cool with the proper paint applications:
http://tfans.com/talk/lofiversion/index.php/t77980.html

well maybe megatron will be just a little lighter like this guy:
http://tfans.com/talk/lofiversion/index.php/t78432.html
