Can't happen. FunPub won't be able to use the movie moulds due to the licensing situation with Paramount. I quite like the use of the Jetfire helmet on that though.

Do paramount own the rights to characters not used in the movie but in the movie line. e.g. wreckage or longarm

Hasbro owns the rights to the characters, but Paramount has exclusive rights to use the Movie Toyline (at least that is my understanding). So basically no matter if the toy was used in the movie or just has movie packaging, the toy can not be used. This only goes for original toys though, as the Target exclusives are just repaints of Energon figure molds (and we really don't need another Arcee repaint at BotCon ... or ever to be exact).
I expect the new BotCon set to be another Classics related one, possibly more Autobots, or even the Stunicons:
Optimus = Motormaster
Mirage = Dragstrip
Rodimus (with some retools) = Dead End, Wildrider, and Breakdown
Granted, I doubt it would be cost effective to make a combined Menasor mode, but anything is possible.
If I was running BotCon, I'd be re-tooling figures to try and release Powerglide, Warpath, Seaspray, Blaster, and Perceptor - but that's just me.

It's not just Paramount. The vehicle modes (cars and such) themselves are mostly licensed from real companies, so FunPub can't use them without paying royalties.

I like the first three... the wreckage one, i like the background, it makes it look more realistic.

Truth.
But to add to it, Hasbro won't use the Movie stuff beyond the movie license, otherwise Paramont would have a claim to any future dollars made by the regular line.

I think they'll have more figures to use by the time Botcon comes around. I'm lead to beleave that they will be using the new classic figures for the moulds.

That's a nice custom wreckage, but I still prefer Jin's.

I like most of 'em, except the Voyager Nemesis; I'm not sure why. The Leader class version looks cool, though, with the big cannons.
I do question the Magnus head design 'hearkening back to G1'. He's got antennae; that's the only thing that makes him look remothely G1ish, as he has no mouth and a visor; and the antennae-sporting head wasn't on the white Prime-redeco part anyway, so he's completely banjoed it there.

Except they will not even be released by the time the next Botcon rolls around this Spring.
The new UNiverse/Classics 2.0 is scheduled for Fall '08.

I just hope that the wreckage custom ends up in the movie premium line up... that would be cool, as well as the Nemesis Prime repaint.. for the leader class, screw that night watch Prime!! what a waste...

I love it when you say these things. This Magnus repaint is a nice one, and I like the helmet, but the movie toys are clearly not Botcon material. It's great to know that they would have more difficulty than it would be worth to obtain the licenses for the movie toys for Botcon exclusives. I was getting nervous becuase the TFCC mag said they were already producing the 08 set and I thought "Well, must just be movie figures." Then Waaaaghlord, you came along and informed that they'd have a hard time with the licenses. Bless you, kind sir.

Hardly a forcast anyone can really count on. After Botcon this year lots of items were released really early, and on the other hand, some are late (MP SS). I think they'll be putting there best foot and molds forward as they did last year.

Agreed. After the success of the 07 Botcon, I think they might have picked up on the fact that it is the older crowd who have the time and money to blow on Botcon. I am expecting more of the same G1 goodness. I can see them trying to take the exclusives down the same path as the E hobby TFs.

But they aren't going to use un-released molds. Talk about getting the fandom into a tizzy!!!
I would imagine with the new Animated stuff coming out, and being on shelves with the newer movie toy waves, they will stick to their schedule for the UNIVERSE and CLASSICs 2.0.
And they did already say this set was made last summer, so chances of them knowing that they HASBRO would release them earlier than predicted, so they could use them after they had been on the shelf for maybe 3 months...I hate to be a killjoy, and I'd love to see it, I just don't see it being possible.
But you can always hope. The chances are better that they used the old CLASSICs molds in some way again...SUnstorm, Nemesis Prime, G2 Ramjet, G2 Starscream, Actionmaster Thundercracker... you know some real odd ball choices using those great molds.
Maybe they are doing a set of Diaclone colored, or all Nemesis colored, or Return of Optimus Prime Hate Plagued Colored...

Dude if they do the unreleased Titanium molds in Plastic and produce a classics G-1 Arcee and Cosmos for Botcon 08, I'll be pretty pissed off!!! grudgingly forking out cash, and somewhat happy... but still Pisssed off!!!

Oh and a Green/Black repaint of Wreckage should be a mass release and called Bludgeon!!
