Is G2 Silverbolt identical to G1 Silverbolt other than color scheme?

The bending and strain on the hinges of G1 Superion does not seem to be apparent in this picture of G2 Superion. Was the hinge reinforced/produced with better materials from G1 to G2, or is this simply a better-preserved/newer version that has yet to experience as much strain?
