Depends on what you mean by over-rated? As in TF's that we see too much of in the various toy and TV lines, or toys that everyone seems to love that you (or we) don't?

For me I'd have to say the Combaticons. I've never liked the figures, characters or their Gestault form but yet his mold always seems to get re-released and repainted several times.

Hasbro needs to get off their lazy @$$ and re-release the Predacons in a not-so-damn-expensive giftset or better yet seperatly.

I'm going to agree that the Combaticons have been done to death, but I've always loved them on all grounds. But there is a limit to how many times we can get the same figures. Still looking for the winter camo Ruination though......

Big Convoy. I had read reviews heralding him as "The best beast former". So when the Universe version was available I jumped at the chance to buy it. So I get it home, transform it a few times, and think "Eh, it's ok".

So basically, I feel BC is overrrated, mostly cause there is little if any correlation between the beast mode and the robot mode. Also, the transformation is pretty poor.

Still, a decent figure.

I think I'm gonna go with the G1 Seeker mold seems to be overrated by fans. Personally, I feel the love for the characters and the Seeker concept kinda blinds people to the poor design, particularly the legs.

I'm probably as guilty as most though...

I'll have to 2nd this. I couldn't believe how crappy the bot mode was the first time I held one as an adult. Thank God for the Classics Seeker molds!

3rd, but I have to say I still love the seekers themselves, regardless of the toys appearance.

In all honesty I have to jump on the seeker mold is a bit crap bandwagon too. I was exstatic when I got reissue Starscream, as it was a toy Ive always wanted (it resparked my interest in TFs, and is the entire reason (2 or 3 years later) for my now rather large (200+) collection. BUT, the robot mode is pants, and the amount of bits that have to be taken off, swaped and generally lost...
Still (IMO) one of the nicest G1 altmodes.

In my opinion, most of botcons are overrated. Maybe not Hot Rod the gold version :P

Who likes Wheelie? I've never even met one person. When I forced my girlfriend to watch the movie, her reaction to Wheelie was something along the lines of "ugh!". (Hey, that gives me an idea for a topic!)
In response to the topic question at hand: G1 Wheeljack. The wings are sharp, but he's got no legs, no face and a chestplate that doubles as a crotch.

I like Wheelie

G1 Jetfire is overrated, doesn't even look like a Microchange or Diacone, not remotely, what was hasbro thinking?

Overated, so hyped toys that don't live up to the hype.

My top 4 in no particular order:

G1 Seekers - Robot mode is rubbish.

MP-03 The off color ruined it for me. Am still trying to psych up to do a repaint.

Botcon exclusives.

G1 Metroplex - Should have been twice the size.

Don't get me wrong. I have all of the above and love them. However, they definately do not deserve the credit that they get imo.

They weren't, Bandai was. Hasbro bought the mold and resold it. It was originally used for Macross/Robotech and still stands as one of the greats for transforming toys/mecha. Jetfire alone proves how superior Takatoku and Bandai really were compared to Hasbro in the 80's.

I'm guilty of this too, but then again, I started re-collecting when I was 15 (after losing my only seeker when I was 8 yrs old), say what you will about their robot modes, but their jets modes still rock (not compared to the MP Starscream of course).

and making the rest of the line look like crap, again, Hasbro was nuts to even use it. Hasbro of the 1980's must be a Seibertronian lol

Shockwave?.................

Shockwave?. Are you kiddin?. Thats like one of the best Transformers made. And how is he more overrated than..... lets say... Wheelie, or Optimus Prime?. He got remolded few different times, but certainly no more than Megatron, or Prime, or even Starscream for that matter. I dont agree with that statement that Shockwave is overrated.Neither in cartoon, or toywise he aint overrated.
