The purple TFC Insecticons seem to be sold out at most online retailers. I'd prefer the originals, but if the only benefit one obtains for an additional $40 is purple instead of red styling, I'd opt to simply purchase the E-Hobby set.

Does it differ from the purple set in any way other than color?

If You like them, do it.

other than the diaclone style colours and the new names, there is little difference. I have a set of them alongside TFC 16 and they do look good.

Any other opinions? Are they the same size as the standard G1 Insecticons?

I can't even find a TFC #16 for sale to purchase even if I was going to pay the opprobrious price of it.

Exactly the same as the stadard insecticons other than the colours and names.

Out of curiosity, what are the three little tykes called? I dont read Japanese...

The price is "something that brings disgrace"? Bonus points for using the word. Negative bonus points for the dubious context.

they're exact repaints of the insecticons in semi diaclone colours. Their new names are Salvo (bombshell), Shothole (kickback) and Zaptrap (shrapnel)

They are worth it, especially if you are like me and like the original three. They also come with the cool vinyl 'Energon' cubes to munch... If the clones were not so expensive (however, not as expensive as the originals by the sounds), I would buy more for more Insecticlones!!

The big draw to the e-Hobby Exclusive Instecticons is that they are being sold as the "Drone Army" using the Diaclone colors (which you guys have already pointed out).

If your a completist, or if you don't have enough money for the TFC Insecticons and your not picky about colors, then this would be a good set.

They do sport the energon cubes, but they tend to be "heavy on the electrons...electrons..." (in Bombshell's voice of course).

I think set is definitely worth the purchase. I was pretty impressed overall.

They are sweet, i would definately buy them and when I have the quan i will!!

I just ordered some this weekend. Found them for a good price and since I had some money in my Paypal account I figured I'd get them. I can't wait.

I'd like to get 'em, mainly for moer Energon Cubes. I like the quality of the ones that I got w/TFC 16. Kinda squishy. I mean, the cubes from Unicron.com are nice, but I like these better.

Are the energon cubes with the Insecticons and Unicron version the same size?

The Insecticon cubes are approximately 1-1.5 cm^3, I believe.
