Movie repaints.WTF?

We're getting the newer waves of voyager figures here in the UK and I was wondering if there was a special "Let's not make any Bloody effort at all" Repaint design department at Hasbro? Let's look at the new Ratchet.Originally he looked some some big robot Hulk and now he looks stunningly unimproved in his guise as a giant white blocky suppository!Perhaps they should call him an Auto-butt heh.
The new Starscream...sorry THUNDERCRAPPER..red and purple?Meh I say.Spray him black and least you could have a "Stealth" Starscream rather than this Sesame St Starscream you've foisted on us!
The upcoming Prime and Ironhide?DON'T EVEN GO THERE. "Hey,let's do less paint opps than a robot replica and give it a crappy byline name and the kid's will buy it again" Sheesh,Hasbro if your gonna be rolling out the same moulds for the next 9 months at least have some one who is not colourblind in your art department.Or let the CEO's 5 year old do it....or maybe they did? :D

Don't buy them, then. Glad I could solve that problem for you.

Repaints are way for Hasbro to make more money off of their very_costly_to_design molds.
IT would be unreasonable to think they'd just release a mold once, and that's it. They want to milk it for everything its worth and its understanjdable. Granted sometimes there choice in repaints is a bit lacking but others its spot on.

I consider Thundercracker to be one of their best repaint choices.

Night_something_or_other Prime is pretty good

Blue Ironhide not so much.

Desert Camo Leader Brawl, eeeewwwwww.

so there's abit of eveyrthing.
08 Cliffujmper... totally amazing choice. even if some don't like it. I love the red and silver on that particular mold.

So you see, its inevitable Hasbro will do repaints. You on the other hand aren't required to buy them all.

Repaints are always better when they take on another character from the fiction.

Cliffjumper? I like it
Night watch Prime? thats a name for a batman toy.

Guys it is a business. Hasbro is a company, and most companies don't care about their customers, as long as their products are selling. The bigger a company gets, the more it loses its virtues.

Take for example Electronic Arts that has become a monster. Ubisoft, Sierra aren't far behind either.

So yea it is bit insulting for customers when molds are repackaged with slight changes and full price tags, but what can you do? Unfortunately there are enough dolts among us who will buy the same thing 20 times because it is a different color... but that's how the free market works. They wouldn't insulting us with these rereleases if it wasn't profitable?

For the record, I like the Thundercrack movie repaint and the Rescue Ratchet.

I love the Starscream mold, and think it is one of the coolest ones. I despise the G1 colors though.

Oh and Nightwatch prime is a retarded idea. Normally they resell the mold by packaging it as Ultra Magnus.

Guess why they didn't do that...

Yes because they plan to have an entirely new mold for him in the sequel.

I Actually enjoy repaints mostly because sometimes they can be better then the original figure. Thundercracker is awsome both in his repaint and the fact that they made a new head mold, hmm seems like they did more then "just a crappy reapint". I actually hated the Starscream toy thta came out, but i loved Thundercracker.

As for Rescue Ratchet, i heavily enjoy his G1 style repaint as opposed to the "piss colored" movie toy :/.

Also as stated by Sledge, don't buy the fogures if you hate their repaint apps :?. Yes Hasbro is milking out for money and want to be "cheap" on it, but what company doesn't? Not to mention they have some nice repaints among the crappy ones.

I could probably have written a quick 500 word essay, but it would have boiled down to the same point. I really don't understand why people get so worked up about repaints.

If your piss is the color of Ratchet, run, do not walk, to the nearest doctor.

Thundercracker is awesome, Just wish they'd make a SkyWarp out of that mold too.

Thundercracker
StarScream
SkyWarp

in original colors? aw hells yeah.

It means "Why does the Voyager class Megatron repaint (that looks like some sort of robo-Liberace)have fingers that look like they are made of toffee?-or "taffy" as you colonials call it.

As long as you remember it, it lives on laddy.

What I don't get with metallic Megatron is, why why WHY THE STUPID BLACK FACE!? HE'S FACE IS MAINLY SILVER IN THE MOVIE! AND IF YOU PAINT THE WHOLE THING SILVER, WHY WASTE MONEY PAINTING A PART BLACK!!??

Are you really that stupid Hasbro? Have you no brain in that collective skull of yours?!

He means why, when the rest of the figure is silver, is his hands- which should also be silver- bronze-brown? Hasbro= STOOOOPID.

Nice touch with the swarovski reference. I was looking at some of that today. Cool stuff.

Did you know bloody and wanker are two of the words most commonly used by me and friends? Doesn't that just make you smile?

I never buy them, but I've got nothing against repaints in principle. However there are inspired repaints and there are lazy, boring repaints.

A clever repaint can put a whole new spin on a figure. It can seem like a totally different character. A bad repaint just looks like the same character with the wrong colours.

Rarely do Hasbro repaints match the potential that clever customizers and kit-bashers have shown is possible.
