Classics Japanese release?

PostPosted: Fri Nov 02, 2007 4:58 pm

I'm looking for some info on the japanese version of the Classics line, such as its release date. Rumour has it that Megatron will be featured in his G1 colours, and I'm wondering whether or not Thundercracker, Dirge and Thrust will see a release over there. Does anyone have any info to offer? (A link would be useful, ta.)

I don't think any info on the specifics is available yet. But be careful, you'll open the Botcon hornets nest again.

Don't count on it. If anything Hasbro will see to it.

So how many of the 'Botcon' figures (I'm thinking Thundercracker) exist then? I want Thundercracker but can't see me ever getting him without paying silly money?!

According to Transformers Archive the Seekers, Bug Bite and Dreadwind are each limited to 1,450 pieces. The 2-packs are limited to 1,400 pieces each. The exact number of clear Mirages is not known.

Huffer & Springer, and Alpha Trion with Beta Maxx & Weirdwolf. Skywarp vs. Magnus was a Target store exclusive.

Thundercracker is easy. Just do a repaint of Starscream. You'll get an even better result than Botcon version.

What's difficult to get is Thrust. Because this will need some custom remolding of the wings.

What other series had Huffer and Springer, period? Generation 1 of course ;) They're repaints of Cybertron Armorhide and Cybertron Defense Hot Shot respectively.

Cybertron Defense Hot Shot is a triple changer? I gotta get me one of those.

Local toy shops in Malaysia has started to allow preorders for them, one website says it'll arrive in March 31st, so I'm guessing you guys might be able to get them earlier.

According to most online retailers- some will be released in February, and some in March in Japan. They will be releasing OP, Megs, Mirage, Starscream, Grimlock, and BB first.

All that I would like from these Japanese releases are G1 colored Megatron and Astrotrain.

This is also what i've been waiting for. But the pre-orders used the US style Megatrons pics.

I'm not sure if you're joking or not, but Cyb Def Hot Shot is not a triple-changer.

No he's not. CD Hot Shot was chosen for Springer because of the (coincidental) similarities in the helmet and the armored car mode. Like E-Bulkhead having only the copter mode.

I've got to say...I don't think so.

I've seen like, one repainted Starscream as Thundercracker.

It's a really hard thing to do. The way parts move on Starscream ensures that any custom repaints will not be able to transform. Also, the one custom 'cracker I saw was certainly not as nice as the BotCon one.

This bad-boy is gorgeous. If you missed out, save your pennies. He's worth every one it'll take to get him.

Go over to the kitbash forums, there are lots. All the ones I've seen transform.

Having the official one would be nice, but for the $$$ I'm planning to do repaints. :)

For the record, many of the bashed Dirges are better looking IMO than the straight Ramjet repaint.

I'm kinda' hoping Classics v2 will have a Thrust repaint to at least make the wings available to the bashers.

I've seen some nice Thundercracker repaints. More beautiful than Botcon. Botcon version is pure G1 wannabe. No creativity at all. Unlike the regular Classics toy, while a G1 homage, got its own creative inputs.

But you do have a point. Moving parts can be a problem. Probably scrape some paints off when you transform him.

I got an extra SS i'm reserving for a repaint. When i do get some time off from work, i'll see what i can do about it.

By the way, is Botcon Thundercracker a base plastic color? Or a repaint over, say, Starscream?
