Quintesson - questions

Does anyone own any of the Quints from Impossibletoys.com? How do they compare? http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=ITC10000&mode=retail&picture=in

Do they come painted and assembled?
Are they poseable?
Are they durable?
What size are they?
Are they worth the money?

Thanks.

They are fantastic! The only one available now is the judge, which I have. There are galleries of them on this site.

They are painted and fully assembled.

The faces can be interchanged, but do not rotate. I assume the other figures will hot have any articulation.

The base lights up.

They are very durable and fit in well with G1 or Classic figures.

The faces can't be interchanged. The pegs they "lock" onto are unique for each head.

I really like mine. Although I have to admit, there was some bad painting on Death. That's the only head that was 100% perfect tho.

Posable? Well ... the Quints have no arms or legs. His tetacles have some minimal posability. But they ARE Quintessons. How posable do you suppose they get? They look nice with TFs anyhow.

I kept the "pins" on the top of his head off since they look real fragile. He's really a nice figure. Worth it IMHO. I dunno if I'll get the rest of the court. Seriously considering a Sharkticon tho.

Great to hear reviews. Thanks guys! I may get these now. The price tag is the only thing that seems to be my reservation. But perhaps it's understandable, if these are not being mass produced.

I saw another version of the Quintessons once, from a different designer. I remember that the faces looked more cartoon accurate, especially death. I can't remember who produced it and in what quantities. The only thing I remember is that it was expensive.

Has anyone purchased Spike and Sparkplug? What are your thoughts? Spike's arms look a little thick. Do their sizes work well? They are smaller than the KISS Players girls right?

See the pics in the thread I started a while back:

Diaclone driver sized. Probably a lot smaller than you're thinking in fact. Smaller than Kiss Players. If you have a diaclone driver than you know what I mean. If you don't I can almost guarantee you will be very surprised at how small they are when you get them.

Their scale is right in line with G1 vehicles and can sit in all the ones I've tried.

I happen to like them a lot myself.

Correction noted - the faces on the Quint-01 are not interchangeable, but do come off.

Spike and Sparkplug are awesome, but they are very, very small. About 2 1/2 cm. At this scale the attention to detail is amazing. They certainly are passable as Spike and Sparkplug. I love that they can sit inside the G1 cars. A must for any G1 collection!

I wuv my Alpha Q... Oh yeah, impossible toys...Quint-01 is very cool. Really rounds out that Season 3 cast, and is an well constructed egg, with light up floatation light beam thing.

Very cool. :-?

:D :D I think they are fantastic! I got mine for $23 including shipping from ebay. The tentacles material that was used in Q1 was a great choice. Overall, I love it. My only minor complaint is that I just wish it was the same scale as the insecticons/ or the fairlady Z brothers. Here are some more images:
My Quintesson Pic

I can't wait to get the Quintesson scientist/ Q2!

I think people can be a little too generous in reviewing long awaited G1 customs. If this was a Hasbro product, there would have been some complaining.

Is the figure awesome? Absolutely, however:

The figure comes fully painted and looks nice. The "hair" has to be put in yourself and is uper fragile and no spares are provuided.

The tentacles could have been done better. The wire used for the tentacles looks a little too flimsy for my liking and is not all that easy to pose as you want.

Also, I had issues with balance with mine and had to buy a second. The bottom of the head is supposed to plug into the base. The opening of my base was too wide on one side and the head plops out if there is any strong vibration of the shelf.

I also thought the colors of the fig looked a little faded.

However, though it is not all wine and roses, definately worth a pick up if you are a G1 fan. Very nice piece, though as always, it could have been better. ;-)

The other figures you ask about can be seen at BBTS and are up for pre-order.

No problem. Better to get the harsh criticism rather than discover the weaker points of a figure after the fact.
