What do you appreciate about the movie line?

For me, it's the heavily alien aesthetic of the robots. They look less like battlesuits and more like creatures. I think thats a nice change.

I agree, and I think part of it is because they have some good articulation and look more fluid, minus Jazz. Jazz sucks.

the fact that their Alt modes are pretty near-accurate to their real-world counterparts, a refreshing change from the Unicron trilogy toys. in fact, i display most of them in Alt mode, they look good just like that.

i like the different look and the playability. i haven't been into transformers in a long time. i liked the movie more than i thought i would and i'm really digging the toys. it's a completely new line for me and transformers, as a whole atm, are fresh and exciting and a definite change of pace from the same 'ol, same 'ol of my regular 3 3/4'' collecting. besides lucas has enough of my money.

I actually didn't dig the movie too much (like most of Bay's movies) But I will admit that the toyline is pretty impressive, for being a bit of a departure from the usual Transformers style.

I really enjoy that they've gone back to using recognizable, real vehicles (apparently Cybertron Optimus Prime is a fire truck- but you have to squint a little) And they have a decent level of posability. They're also very sturdy, even with the "automorph" features on the larger figures.

What do you appreciate about the movie line?

The complexity of the designs, as well as the aforementioned alien looking robot designs. Even as I draw new Transformers, I seem not to be able to do "classic" designs, and find my self instead drawing things in movie style.

I would appreciate an ultimate Blackout, but as that won't happen, Longarm's face and the RealGear are the only things I like about the line.

the new style, their look is very unique, very detailed, I guess more realistic thanx to the real time movie.

I like that about them too. They are quite organic for a TF.

Yeah they look more alive now as opposed to dudes wearing robot costumes.

I'm also really digging the more monstrous Decepticons.

The transformation!
I liked G1 TFs, but even as a kid, I thought they were cool but too stiff, as well as too easy to transform. I wanted complex transformations and the movie figures are exactly what I wished TFs were 20+ years ago: nice robot designs (no boxy bots,) cool and detailed vehicle modes... and complex TRANSFORMATION! YEAH!!!
:P

I love the new design style, so much more alien and mechanical than anything before IMO. Cool modern alt modes and excellent articulation, for the most part.

What I might like the most is the fact that the movie line got be back into TFs big-time. Looking forward to the Allspark series and the Animated toys.

I agree with that and the rest of the positive comments. I just really loved how they look so realistically alien.

What about the Veyron-styled Crosswise?

The engineering of the movie line toys is fantastic, compared to the the toys in the Unicron Trilogy. The real-world ascetic of the movie line is also a welcome departure from all the rainbow-colored Unicron Trilogy toys.

I loved the way they washed away all my doubts regarding the superiority of the blocky, robotic designs.

There are quite a number of things that i appreciate from the movie toyline.

One of them is i too, love their Alien look to their face, fingers, feet ( for some) and their overall body mold. Secondly i love the great amount of detail that goes into these guys both in Robot and Alt mode, not to mention how they arfe pretty damn near movie accurate in their looks. Thirdly, I love how poseable these suckers can be, which results in some great displays. The last thing that i love about them is how well they transform ( though some i do not like)and how well they hide in disguise.

If course the toyline isnt without their own faults :P. Such as some design flaws such as Deluex Brawl's arm pegs, or the shoulder pegs on Blackout to name a few. Also for some of the toys they should have been a better size ( Bonecrusher).

But hey overall they are still great figures to collect and own :D

Hate the movie, love the toys. I think it's just about the best transformers have ever been. It beats Alternators because there's so much more variety to this line. The only other line I rate as highly is classics.

However it is quite an uneven line in terms of quality and value for money. I don't really think any of them are bad, but some are just vastly better than others.

What I like most is how good a job they did of simplifying and improving the movie designs. They look more complex and articulate than Transformers have looked in the past, but there's form to them, and they don't look like the heaps of shredded scrap metal we saw in the movie. I also like the automorph gimmick in some figures.

EXACTLY! Hehe, I've been waiting aaaaages for someone to put that into words for me, I haven't been able to articulate it.
The simplifications of the extremely complex movie designs into plastic was NOT something I was expecting. At first view of the movie designs I thought "The figures are either going to look nothing like the movie version, or they are going to be total asses to transform!" but I think it's worked out quite nicely.

For example, Barricade & Ratchet. They both have "classic", slightly blocky transformations, but the effect given to the robot parts that aren't on display in alt mode makes it seem like they have more pieces.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks that way. Like a lot of people, I hated the designs at first, they just seemed all wrong. Yet when the toys came out, I picked up Barricade cause it was cheap and at least had a decent alt mode. I was so impressed, that pretty soon I'm buying more and more of the line.

To me there's a big difference between a transformers robot mode, and other complex looking mech robots. A big part of that is having recognizable vehicle parts cleverly used in the robot form. All too often in the movie I felt like I couldn't make out what I was looking at. They just seemed like shapeless masses with so many moving parts that everything gets lost in a confusion of dust clouds and motion blur.

It also bothered me that there was so much blatant cheating in the transformations, with parts shifting scale, growing, shrinking, floating in mid-air, passing through each other, all this busy stuff going on all the time for no real reason. It's still fun to watch, but if they had pulled back a bit, not had so much pointless over-complexity, it would've been so much more satisfying IMO.

The toys aren't perfect, but I think they got it a lot better.

I am actually a huge fan of this line.. I like the all around feel of it.. I know some hardcore TF collectors despise this line but I reall like it through and thru!
