2008 Botcon Exclusives - What do you think they'll be?

Hey all...
With the mention that next year's botcon will be in the spring, I've been getting excited about the prospects of going to my first one in person.
Whether I go or not (crosses fingers for a mid-western locale), I've also been wondering what the exclusive set of figures will be. I know that the movie line is out, but I'm not sure if that is limited just to the figures shown in the film or all toys from the "Movie" line.
My thought (hope) is that we'll get more Classicverse characters, but I don't know if that's realistic. There are a number of recent releases that could be repainted into very accurate portrayals of G1 characters.
So, what do _you_ think we'll be seeing in the coming months???

I'm guessing movie repaints. No idea who they'd be, though.

Probably a Classics Sunstorm. I'm sure Hasbro didn't make us suffer enough last time.

I hate to say it, but I think they'll be disappointing after this past year's.

I'll be pissed if it's MP Thundercracker since the chances of me being able to go aren't good.

Actually, in thinking about it, I'm kind of certain it's those WWI Prowl and Grimlock figures we saw once and then never more.
It would make sense as the line is cancelled essentially, BotCon figures are decided upon way in advance, and two metal figures would probably be equivilant to a 5 figure set.

From what I understand, there won't be movie repaints for FP. Paramount owns part of those designs and most likly will not be used, which is fine with me.
I'm hoping for some clever characters ideas. One of my favorite ideas came from a TFCC member. Ratbat using the Cyb Sideways mold. I still wouldn't mind seeing Bludgeon using Cyb Unicron mold. I wouldn't even mind seeing a Go-Bot as the Botcon attendee exclusive. I'm hoping for CyKill using the Ransack mold.

As much as I would love those molds to be used. I can't see FP getting permission to used a mold that hasn't been produced for the public. I thought FP could only use molds that have been massed released. Can you imagine the complaining that would unsue if we did get those molds. My god, this year's set was the bitchfest of the century for TF's. I can't imagine how the fandom will react if FP gets unused molds!!

If Universe was out earlier than it's due my best guess would be Stunticons based of Classics Prime and the Autobot cars from Classics and Universe. As it is there's just not enough moulds to make that work and done in the same style until Universe launches.
So, some obvious contenders. An anime coloured Classics Astrotrain (I was expecting to see that as the attendee figure instead of Mirage this year), and yet more overuse of the Classics Seeker mould with Ghost Starscream and Sunstorm. Hell, why not Sunstorm's green and purple wingmen from season 1.
Looking back a bit further I think that you could get some interesting sets from some of the Energon deluxes. How about Hotshot into Nightbeat, Inferno into Hosehead and Prowl into Siren or Hotshot into Getaway, Prowl into Slapdash and Downshift into Joyride.

Following the trend... Dawn of Futures Past (2005) was Cybertron repaints & then Games of Deception (2006) was Classics repaints... It would make sense that 2007 Botcon exclusives would be Movie lines repaints.
But then some bring up interestingly good points with the whole licensing issues with the movie figures. Which brings up Counterpunch's also good point.
Watch the '08 Botcon exclusives be the Titanium Grimlock & Prowl figures with one or two Alternator repaints...

I think it's going to be a Fort Max reissue.
Or ALt Megatron.

Somehow I don't see putting 'adult collectable' on the side of the box allowing anyone to get around Max failing the drop test. Even Alpha Trion from this year's set had to come with the silly rubbery plastics on the clear sections like the Hasbro releases and I've been working on the assumption that this was something to do with the more solid clear plastics shattering when being put through something similar.

I haven't even decided if I'm going this year.
I think the only way I will go is if the event is in Florida.
It's also really early this coming year.

That's pretty much my statement as well regarding the con. I doubt I can make it if it's on the West Coast.

I was being sarcastic, cos a lot of people want him, it would be fun reading the comments on that, way better then this year cos this time I woun't be one of those complaining.

I heard a rumor...mind you just a rumor that Botcon could be at Disney World
Which I would love because a freind of mine works there
I'm thinking as an exclusive we might see a repainted Classic Prime as Nemesis Prime or Motormaster

I agree. Lets not forget the Tit. Arcee and Cosmos prototypes we saw. I would love to see a Classics Sunstorm, Ghost SS or maybe a set of generic seekers.

I have to disagree. I really, really liked the Titanium line, and as sorry as I am to see it go, I think titaniums as Botcon exclusives would really be cheap. The same as the whole Spychangers idea from before.....there is a certain level of integrity (I guess) for these exclusives, and the last gasps of a failed line don't seem to carry that IMO. Plus, since the Titaniums were aimed at collectors and they discontinued them because collectors hated them, why release them as the ultimate yearly Transformers collectors item?

Whatever it is, I hope it's something that'll only really be a must have item to hardcore fans, like someone who appeared for two panels in a comic book ten years ago. That way, a few people can shoot their load over him, and the rest of us won't care. Win-win situation.

My dream is that they'll repaint/tool figures so we could get a Battlestars set including all the characters, including Super Megatron and the generic Decepticon drones.
To be realistic, it will all be movie figures. I don't know what you could turn most of those figures into but some might be easy. For some reason I think Wreckage would make a great Arcee(with a new head of course) and Swindle would make a decent Prowl(also with a new head.)
Of course, I would LOVE if they repainted some Alternators since I missed out on all of them.

Can't they not release movie figures without permission from the companies that produce the vehicles after which they are modeled? I hope so, because after pervious Botcon sets a box of movie repaints would be the most overpriced crap you could get.

After what I spent this summer I almost wish that they could do the movie repaints just so that I could have a year off and really not mind passing on them. The Battlestars idea is full of win.
