I was just going through, my collection today, and noticed that my G1 Steeljaw has some type of green rust on one side (legs) but on the othe side he's fine.

Anyone no what it is, and how to get rid of it?

It's cosmic rust. :P

Does anyone know if jewelry cleaner wold work, like the kind that is suposed to remove tarnish or does that damage the figure? I've never tried it before myself, just wondering if someone with more experience has gone that route with success.

Just be careful not to get anything on the plastic.

WD-40 will work with some fine steel wool. Just don't use too much or it'll run all over the place.

The WD-40 will probably work by itself though. Dampen a paper towel or rag with it, and blot a thin coat onto the metal. Let it sit until it evaporates. There will be a residue, so wipe that clean afterwards.

If that doesn't work ... use the steel wool.

WD-40 should be okay on plastics temporarily, just don't soak it for any length of time. That stuff penetrates very well, which will swell the plastic most likely.

As for paint removal. I don't think it will remove paint instantly. Try the process on something similar ... if you can spare something similar that is ...
