If the Encore line releases a set of G1 minibots similiar to the minibots set we saw in the Takara collection, who would you choose for the 5 bots?

We have already seen BB,Cosmos,Warpath,Powerglide, Huffer and Gears.

My vote would be for the new set would be-
Cliffjumper
Windcharger
Beachcomber
Seaspray
Pipes

You forgot Warpath was in that set. I agree with most of your choices, but how could you pick Pipes over Brawn?

Brawn, Cliffjumper, and Windcharger were reissued in single boxes along with the original molded head for Bumblebee not not only here (carded) but in Japan as well. The Asian markets also got chase black versions. So anything that hasn't already been released in the last few years. Beachcomber, Seaspray, Pipes, Outback, Bumper, Hubcap, Swerve and Tailgate.

Since most minibots are easily available on ebay,
I guess I really don't need them to be released
in an encore set.
I too wish I hadn't passed on the destron set though
and would like another chance at getting them
at an affordable price.

Corrected, not sure how I missed warpath.

I left out Brawn because as a toy, he stinks. Prone to breakage and almost no personality.
Pretty much a box with fold out arms and legs.

These were the keychain releases or the KO? I would only want them if they were sans key loop and official. I really want a Cliffjumper and a Windcharger.

If these are official, any links so I can see them?
Need to know what the box looks like so I can hunt them down.

Keychains IIRC.

Well then I dont consider that a real reissue. The whole keychain thing totally crushes any use I have for them collecting wise.

An officially reissued Cliffy is needed.

So...do you see any collecting value in the Botcon recolors (Tap Out, Rook, and Glyph), since they also had key chain loops?

None, they just look silly to me in a G1 collection with that plastic loop sticking out. Why deface the molds like that? Was there some huge demand for keychain transformers?

I think its silly that you can't just dremel the loop off them if you don't like it, it can be done quite easily and painlessly. Other than the loop they are pretty much identical to their G1 incarnations.

Perhaps some would find that silly, but when I buy a TF I dont want to open it up and go to work on it. I want it to be pristine.

The keychain thing makes these molds seem cheap and disposable.

Fair enough.
It didn't bug me at all, in fact I was happy they were so readily available and still are available. You can get them $4 or $5 a piece. Which is great for the average TF collector, you can get these guys for almost what they sold for in 1984, today.
I bought Tap-Out as well, I'm a huge Cliffjumper fan and love that mold.

As am I. With my collection, I am a stickler for detail and the rings just bug me.

I think it was a strange decision on Takara's part. I would think reissues would sell better without the key ring gimmick.

Have they ever reissued the Bumblebee with the redone cartoon face individually?

I'd love to get one, but as far as I know, you have to buy the whole set, which last time I checked was going for a ridiculous amount.

Only in the set, and yeah, the Takara Coll. minibots set always fetches pretty heavy prices. Bids that high are a testement to the characters though I guess.

It's ridiculous how badly I want that figure. But original minibots are so much more affordable than the reissue minibot set, and I already have 2 Bumblebees. They actually bothered to paint the rear bumpers on those, unlike what we see here. You probably get better quality plastic on the originals too.

Kinda hard to justify paying upwards of $150 ( ) when all I really want basically amounts to less than a square centimeter of yellow plastic.

I may be crazy, but I'm not that crazy. 8-}

First of all, I did NOT pay $150 for my Takara minibot set or even HALF that amount.
If you keep looking eventually you'll find one at a decent price, I did.
I needed all the minibots in that set anyway so the G1 accurate Bumblebee was just a very big bonus. 8)

Sorry, I've been out of town. The Takara keychain releases WERE oficial releases. The same can be said for the U.S. versions as well. They weren't Hasbro but they were licensed to that specific company to be made. The little loops are very easily removed if they bug ya. Here's BB fpr example.
http://www.tfu.info/1984/Autobot/Bumble ... blebee.htm
You'll have to scroll down a bit to variations. TFU won't let me link directly to pictures like I normally could.
The cartoon faced version of him was only released in the Takara collection with the other mini-bots.
