MP SS's Future

First let me say that if you live in Pa and are near Pottstown, I was at that Wally World at 10:30 this morning and there were 16 MP SS in a center isle display by the toys. The thing that hit me and was almost like telling the future was that in that same display there were about 10 or more DVD Primes. For some reason MP SS's future looks like DVD Primes - once whoever really wanted it gets it they will become the new self warmer. At least in my area thats the way i see the future. Like to know if anyone else sees it that way.

Here in Lincoln, Ne. I got the last MP SS on the shelf at my Wal-Mart. I went back there a few days later and they had six on the shelf, a week later, they still have five on the shelf.

I got mine a couple of weeks ago, and today will first time I have returned that WM since. It will be interesting to see if they still have any. They had at least a dozen when I picked mine up. I have a feeling you may be right, if so I feel sorry for those who panicked and and bought one for a inflated price.

I felt exactly that way too.
However, ToadtheNewsense your the first one I have heard of that has seen one in NE
I live in western NE and I havent seen one in any of the 5 closest wal-marts to my area yet!
But yes, I can see him becomming a shelf warmer eventually. One Wal-Mart out here still has about 16 classic devastators just collecting dust and at least six 20th anniv. Primes.
crazy!

Wrong. This is cheaper, with more "star" appeal. In fact, some primes will sell just to get the megatron gun, like I'm about to do.
Sold out *before* black friday is my bet.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you especially since this is a store exclusive. DVD Prime was widely available at different retailers nationwide and coupled with the fact that the same figure had been released previously as 20th Anniversary Prime, made for less demand than MP Starscream.
Granted some locations that are heavily stocked may put him on clearance but many will not. I know in my area that Classics Devastator and Alts Rumble and Ravage were extremely difficult to find and never went on clearance.

I'm not so sure I see MP SS as a future shelfwarmer. Since it's a collector's item not in as much demand for fans and kids alike, I don't suspect we'll see the lastingly absurd prices of some of the movie toys, and I'm glad to see that scalper's can't sell them for much above MSRP. Still, unlike 20th Prime, he hadn't had a previous and superior US release, and he's an exclusive made in smaller numbers. I'm sure you'll see extras in towns with low demand and no scalpers lurking about, but I'm not convinced he'll become common. Also, I haven't seen DVD Prime in months around where I live.

mp ss are going gone in los angeles. true dvd primes came out in mass numbers, but they all managed to get bought within weeks down here. not only that, dvd primes were raised from $50 to $69.99 at wal marts over here, and people still bought them

Tom's absolutely right, I've been calling a dozen of Walmarts within 30 miles radius and most of them told me they got them in and sold out immediately. Today I made another round of calls and a nearby Walmart came up with 13pcs, I asked the customer service to hold 2pcs for me, but she said she's been paging toys department for 30 mins and no one answers. She said it's better for me to go there in person so I did. Took me 30 minutes to get to that Walmart (total 1 hour past from the time I first spoke to her), none at the shelves, so I grabbed someone to help me check their stockroom, that associate told me they just sold the last piece. I said no way, I was just on phone with their customer service 30 minutes ago and they had 13pcs during that time. This associate then told me they had reserved 2 last pieces for someone who just called, I said "IT'S ME!!!" So I brought them home happily.
MP SS is Walmart exclusive priced at less than $50, and holiday season is approaching, so I don't think they will become shelfwarmers, at least not anytime in the near future.
Cheers,
Coolpop

It'll never be shelf warmer here in the UK so, no.
But i wouldnt be surprised if they did become one in the US. Its a little expensive to buy for a kid and too flimsy too. So its more of an adult collectors item kinda thing. I can see where it might warm some shelves.

i don't see him being a shelfwarmer. he is a great looking store exclusive with an awesome price with the holidays approaching. i saw 8 today at the walmart i stopped at when i got mine. i doubt they make it thru wednesday. i think he will be findable for a bit but i would be surprised if he is still sitting around in 3-5 months.

If Hasbro decides to start making more due to high demand, then yes, it will become another DVD Prime.
If this current shipment is the only one Wal-Mart will receive, then outside of a Wal-Mart in some rural area, then you'll never see it again in retail.
Considering all the DVD Primes and Cybertron Primuses warming the shelves of the Wal-Marts I visit, I'm sure both parties are aiming to avoid a similar fate for MP Starscream by keeping supplies low.

Went back to the WM where I picked up mine a couple of weeks ago, and they we're wiped out. They had at least a dozen when I got mine. A stocker noticed that I was digging around in the area where they used to be and asked if he could help me find something. I asked if they had anymore in the back. He said no and that they had went really fast. Guess I got lucky.

*remember, mp ss is supposedly non-replenishable since he is an exclusive. so i wouldnt take any chances to wait and hope he goes down on clearance. especially during the holiday season and when TFs are all the rage. but im sure theyll clearance something the day after christmas, who knows, maybe a mp ss may survive til then.

Im in North Platte, NE ToadtheNewsense. I'm sure they will find their way out here eventually.
And sorry,OptimusPrimeRib, I didn't clarify, they are DVD edition Primes, not the original 20th release. I'd have em bought and on ebay if they were. lol

Thats cool. The Railroad has been good for me, but its not for everyone. One thing about North Platte that I never figured until I moved here is the amount of fellow TF fans living here. When new figures do make it to town it is a mad dash to get em before all the others come and clean em out. lol

You work for the railroad, that's cool. I would still love to work for them. I just wasn't willing to move at the time. I plan to apply again, what do you do for them.

I have one that I preordered so I'm all set but I know I wouldn't wait if I didn't. It would suck not to get one as they're really nice pieces at a great price (for Walmart buyers). If I see them around, I might pick up one more to keep in the box. I would be shocked to see many, if any, after Christmas.
