Which toy was a real mistake or success? One which you think what was Hasbro thinking? Or,one that you wonder why they didn't make more or discontinued it as a no-brainer?

I've only recently bought a few Energon figures, but from the looks of them and the overall aesthetics of what the cartoon looked like, I think it was the best of the recent lines. I don't own any from the Armada line and don't feel the need to. And Cybertron? Eh, seemed like a promising premise and I like most of the Cybertron figures that I have, but the colors had a bad 80's day-glo look to them and the overall toy line just didn't have much that jumps out at you. But Galaxy Force Prime is justifiably awesome.
Biggest dud in the TF line? Anyway you slice it, the post '86 movie characters and the 2010 line combined with the slaughter of everybody's favorite original characters ushered in the wane in TF interest. Headmasters couldn't stem the tide and by the time Pretenders and Action Masters came along, few really seemed to carry to be all that upset of the what the toys had become.

QFT! A bigger badder version of Galvatron in G1 anime colours was one of the diamonds of that line.
I find that there is something great about all the lines.
Bombs? maybe BM's scale system being so out of whack could make it the bomb of the group. Individually though, alot of the BM molds were sweet.
I think the whole 'gobot' portion of RID (characters like REV and Ironhide) was a bomb, I hate those one step matchbox bots. No personality.
I agree with No Death for Prowl about the Pretenders line, who wants robots pretending to be pseudo humanoid things?
That was a bomb idea from the start.
I actually really like the headmaster, targetmaster, powermaster idea though. Led the way for what the minicons are now.

I was never sold on the Headmaster and Powermaster ideas as fictional devices but I certainly found the toys to be fun (particularly PM Prime and Doubledealer).

Is this from a favorite and hated standpoint or from an earnings standpoint for Hasbro?
Favorites and hated
Success:Masterpiece OP, alternators line, Classics Jetfire, Movie: BB 09 concept, longarm, dropkick, ironhide, leaderbrawl, leader op
bomb:movie payload, movie bonecrusher, any beastwars/machines toy(personally don't get the robots turning into flesh creatures)
revenue (based on cost analysis assumption not actual financials review)
Success: Movie line figures (NOT ULTIMATE CLASS), alternators
bomb: BB Ultimate, movie dreadwing (although I am one of the few that like his design)

That's some ignorant crap right there.
Armada sold really well. Many of the toys were only on the shelves once. Big names like Prime, Megatron, and Starscream could occasionally be difficult to find even during their release times.
Energon was at times wildly overproduced and other times wildly underproduced. It always sold out.
Cybertron was on the shelves selling consistantly for almost 2 years.
In no way shape or form are these lines crap, nor were they busts for the franchise. Without their impressive success and sales numbers, do you think we'd have seen a live action movie?
Hell no.

As always, your knowledge is superior!
And knowledge is power!

I'm not too keen on Armada nowadays, and Cybertron was kinda hit and miss for me. But I just can't get enough of Energon. So many excellent voyager figures! Great combiners!
It brought back scramble city style combiners in a big way, and I feel they did a great job with them.

QFT, The Unicron trilogy gave us some gorgeous molds. Comparing the three, I would say Armada is the weakest and even that line easily has more than a dozen great molds. Energon and Cybertron were pure gold in my opinion.

I know I already stated my point in my first post...but
Can't we ALL collectively say biggest BOMB
Star Wars TF more than anything else!! No one else has mentioned it. Was it because I already did?
come now, what has been worse than that? It seems like virtually no one bought those things. Even though I must say I sorta like them.

Waiting for them to go on sale in fact.
come one now, give me your best argument for worse than that!

I think the biggest bomb was Star Wars TFs. Those vehicles just weren't made to be robots. And the heads just garner a "WTF" from me every time I see 'em. Although Death Star is awsome and I hear Millenium Falcon is pretty good too.
Best line? I think Alts. Great concept, intricate transformations and, for the most part, characters people care about.
