Both, the toy you posted is the pre earth one, and the top one is the earth one.

So do all the Transformers have a pre-earth form and earth form? Or just Megatron?

Man... that Animated Series is going to have a hard time bringing in the same amount of cash as the Movie Line.

Possibly but there will be less of a binge and more of a steady flow when characters are introduced gradually and the cast and storys develop

so whos going to guess on earth megs alt mode?

i suppose the realistic options are tank, gun, or some type of earth equivalent of his cybertron ship, not that theres an easy equivalent, some kind of airborne military vehicle maybe.

I think he'll be some kind of flying-hover-car-thing at least that's about all i can get out of that picture.

The vents on his body seem less than plane like yet not right for a car either. His shoulders hint at wings, short stubby ones though and his "hoddie" hints at a nosecone of some kind. Considering the futuristic setting i think its actually kinda plausible.

apparently Megatron in this show is actually a samurai??

there are soo much similarities for this show with that of every series.. it's interesting how much it seems that Hasbro really wants to bring in the new fans and new designs over the old looks of the transformers in the past.. it just seems like they also want some of the older crowd to also like the show and toys as well..

the designs, though really skewed are very G-1 inspired.. with a bit of Beast Wars, Black Arachnia, and some movie ides, megatron's cybertronian form.. reminds me of the movie design... overall.. I'm not interested..

after getting one property going in a totally new direction and the animated going in another, the classics fiasco and the impending but I fear fading Universe line.. I'm gonna have to stick with the movie toys and just concentrate on the back stock of stuff I need for my collection..they are trying too hard to get everyone to like animated..and I just don't know if I can..

Personally, I like the new designs.

As always, I like some more than others, but overall I am impressed.

I can see where they won't appeal to everyone, no line does, but for my toy buying dollars they've got me.

I'm impressed that they can nail the rounded, very 'toon animated looks in both bot and alt modes. It is hard to do, and every example I see is being done well. (I still can't fully figure out Prowl's transform.)

And you have to remember, this is a line that is *not* aimed at the adult collector. It's targeted at the kiddie crowd, and the toon and the toys will compete in that space. It is something for today's kids to latch onto like we did soooo many years ago whether that was G1, BW or whatever.

The adult collector has been pretty well represented of late. The movie (like it or loathe it) was aimed at an older audience. The MPs, Alts and even Classics had us in mind, and successfully separated me from a few of my paychecks :-)

I can't wait for the Animated series and the toys. I even just marked the premiere on my calendar
