Classics Seekers WTF!?

I was getting ready to remove the canopy cover from Skywarp (to see if I could do it without hurting the fig, before moving on to 'Scream & Ramjet), and noticed something I've never seen before, nor have heard anyone talk about on any message board...

The turbine fans rotate out!

Why do they do this? What purpose could those joints serve? I'm so confused right now...

They're a poor excuse for landing gears. They just left that step out of the instruction booklets.

Those are supposed to be the landing gears in jet mode, rather than having one that would fold out from the cockpit/nose assembly.

What!? But aren't those what help the jet "lift off" vertically? I may not know anything about planes, but I was pretty sure those served their own purpose...

Those are not vertical lift turbines. The F-16 is not capable of verital lift. Those are mainly there for robot mode, as they are part of the G1 seeker design. If anything they are the turbines for the jet engine intake.

Well, see? There. A purpose. Not landing gear.

Neither is the F-15, the jet the seekers are based off of. But thanks for the fun fact on the F-16!

You know what phrase really ought to be brought back into standard use around here?

OLD NEWS

Ahh, that's more like it.

'Scuse me for being new to the board, and not reading every single fricking thread about every single fricking thing regarding Transformers. 'Scuse me for getting the one Starscream where they failed to include the bit about the gay-@$$ landing gear in the instructions. Pardon me. I'll never make such a grievous effing error ever again. Forgive me, please.

EDIT: Maybe someone can help me find it, because apparently I'm blind and stupid. I'm assuming this is the same step someone previously posted on another board:

When I look really hard at the darker diagram on the left, I can kinda make out the landing gear. Yet, it makes no mention of flipping anything. Didn't know I needed a magnifying glass to play with Transformers. Not to mention all three of my seekers came out of the package with the fans in the front, not turned to the side. So, with no instruction and nothing to transform, how was I supposed to know what these were!?

There passed some time before i noticed that by myself ^^
Freaking Landing-gear, no Hasbro! Next time give us Rocket-Clusters inside Seekers chest panel!

I was watching an episode where they did that last night, if only it had been included. :-(

Get Skywarp if you can. His instructions basically are Starscream's reversed (from packaged robot mode to vehicle mode), yet they mention that step.

It's casual dude, I excuse you. Plus, we don't all notice the same things at the same time, and since you said you didn't read every single post even slightly related to the topic, I think it's no big deal. Just enjoy your landing gears.

Given the picture, he already does.

I threw out Ramjet's & Skywarp's instructions without looking at them, figuring they'd transform the same. I admit, I didn't look at theirs. But, as you can see, unless I studied every faceted detail of Starscream's, there's no way I could've known about the landing gear from his instructions. Plus, every single one of my seekers came with the fans facing front, not flipped out for the LG.

I just didn't like it being insinuated that I was stupid (on three other message boards, too - not just here) for asking a simple, innocent question.

Well, if stupid's the problem, when I got Classics Starscream, I think the package said something about a landing gear. Figuring it would fold out from under the nosecone I spent like half an hour just staring at the underside of the damn jet, looking for something that would fold out and serve as a landing gear. I was disappointed to learn that the landing gear spoken of was those fans.
Anyway, don't let it bug ya. You know how some people get around here. Plus, you're not stupid. How did that feel good song from Barney go......? :-? :-?
