I just got the Voyager Blackout... and i'm kinda dissapointed.
There's no automorph "technology". and you have to unplug the two sides to Transform him completely.
I think i'm gonna sell him soon =(
It may sound like whining, but seriously some parts are very loose (like his feet/toes). It's like i got a HK knockoff

, even though i got the official kind.

Welcome to the club. Blackout has to be the most dissapointing figure in all of the movie line. Not only is he small, considering he was the largest decepticon, but his parts sometimes dont stay connected. He is really bad, Hasbro owes us an apology, Voyager Blackout was completely un-called for! LOL

I really like Blackout, and that's even before I found out today you can take the backpack off and mount it (albeit somewhat awkwardly) in his hand. Just his whole design asthetic is really appealing. And why gripe about scale? They're toys. If you wanted everything to scale to deluxe cars, the larger toys would be 3 feet tall and cost a fortune, and toys like Arcee wouldn't even qualify as a basic.

Blackout was like Movie Megatron - he's almost too ambitious of a toy.

It's the orange. It screams "Love me Dag Nammit!"
But I'm with you D_S, I really dislike the Blackout mould, It is a regrettable purchase (I should have just gotten the FAB version), but even though I hate the Mould I am very sorely tested to buy Evac, he is just such a nice looking figure.

ye but the thought when batteling them does creep into my head alot. Like why is a pickup truck bigger then a helicopter?!

and besides the movie line was supposted to be realistic

I'm with you on this. Though he's far from one of my favorites from the movie line, I still like him. His helicoptor mode looks pretty good and I like how you can attach deluxe Scorponok to the bottom of him. His robot mode isn't bad; the only real gripe is how half of Blackout just hangs off the back of him. That seemed like a real waste of robot right there and seems a bit lazy overall. Still, he's a good addition to my collection.
I don't care too much about scale either, but I will agree that he's too short. Hasbro would have been better off not including the "tallest of the Decepticons" description on the back of the box.

I have regrets, but I don't have regrets at the same time. First off, I collect mostly MISB. If a figure is really good, though, I'll get a second and open it. So I had this Blackout/Scorpy 2-pack for the longest time, and wondered if I should open or save it. I decided to open it. Turns out it was the only Blackout I would ever get my hands on, since all Wave 1 Voyagers in my area died. Oh well, what's done is done.
I dunno if it's still here somewhere, but I posted a thread asking for help on how the hell to transform him (instructions were vague). It's strange how I felt that I was going to break the largest 'Con.

Once I got it though, I was left unsatisfied.
The head sculpt is absolutely menacing, granted it could be a tad more detailed. Posability is very limited, due to his backpack, but it makes sense. He'd most likely stand tall and proud, not wild like his pet or Bonecrusher. Then there's the wack Automorph and transformation. His alt mode looks great, though.
In short, I should have left him and Scorpy MISB. My movie Con collection looks empty, only missing Blackout. However, he doesn't look so bad by Leader Megs' side, on my dresser. It is where he belongs, after all.

Here's hoping I find a sealed Blackout to finish off my Cons!

I've found that I like mine more since I ditched the backpack. Still not in scale, but he's more posable now.

I thought the head of Blackout definitely needed more detail or scuplted like they cared...
A lil disappointed but I still like the fig, I bought two of him and displayed one of them.

I'm a fan of Blackout, they should have really make a bigger figure, he'd deserve a leader (or even supreme) class figure, the voyager is just diappointing, since you have to tinker with it to make the automorph technology work.

he feels like he's made from cardboard, in robot mode. Well, okay ... I'm exaggerating.
- the way his shoulders lock in really sucks.
- The automorph issue has been beaten to death. No need for me to elaborate any further with that issue.
- His anal "kick stand" is very annoying
- Putting the rotor weapon in his hand, yuck!
- swirly/ dirty looking plastic.
FAILURE!
With that said, I own 3 of him.

I'm rather fond of Blackout. I do think he definitely should have gotten leader class treatment. His height problem isn't an issue for my display though, since he looks decent next to metallic voyager Megs. The only issue then is the fact that voyager Starscream towers over both of them.

Blackout is my favorite Decepicon in the series both in the movie and as a toy. I'm not exactly convinced he's the largest Decepticon but if theres a group pic I'd love to see it. As far as loose joints I don't seem to have that problem. For a time is did seem to have trouble keeping the front canopy in place as it kept rotating down while in copter mode. But I think this is due to mis-transformation.

Blackout is one of my favorite figures from the movie line. I have 4 of his mold, Blackout Test Shot, Voyager Blackout, Blackout/Scorponok 2 Pack, and just recently received the Evac Test Shot. Evac's colors are bright and eye catching in person. The colors make the molds details stand out more.

I've wanted blackout for a long time now, but with all the crap said about him, is it worth it to buy? And is there any way to get his feet to attach better in alt mode?

I'd say he's worth it, unless you can handle the styling of the FAB figures, which for all intents and purposes, is just as accurate and half the price. The TRU Desert pack makes him a little easier to buy since it's like getting $4 off the 2 figures. I doubt you'd find one now after BF though.
On the other hand, he looks great as a stand alone figure. And I saw him at 2 different stores today. Check the front door display at your Walmart.

I concur, when I displayed one of my Blackouts, the first thing I did was look at Ironhide and did a comparison!

With that said, I own 3 of him.

With no disrespect to anyone involved, this is the bottom line when it comes to Blackout. Everyone hates him, has no problem repeatedly badmouthing him on his faults, all of which have been overbeaten to death, and yet everyone owns at least one. The scale thing is what bugs the crap out of me. Collect whatever you want based on whatever criteria you want for whatever reason you want, but lack of scale does not ruin a figure. Maybe it detracts from your appreciation of the figure, but ruin? Such a strong word..... Poor production techniques ruin figures, so every complaint about poor Blackout QC is fine. My Blackout is in tip top shape, but apparently, all of your figure buying misfortunes save me from having them, because I swear, every figure that I own where people complain about QC issues......mine are fine. Honestly, maybe I am just that lucky, and that pisses me off because I'd rather have that luck transfer over to more important parts of me life.
From Day T-79, we have been badmouthing the movie figures. Even before we had movie figures, we bad mouthed movie figures. Then we got them, and we still can't stop complaining about them. One thing for sure: I hope whoever put that line in Blackouts' bio about being the largest Decepticon lost his damn job....that little sentence of exposition, intended to kids, has been the birth of millions of threads on this site about how Blackout is too small. He's like the Steve Bartman of Transformers (bad Cubs reference....).

Does Blackout's scale bother me? Absolutely not. For some reason scale never bothers me with my figures, I look at each figure as an individual piece.
Would it be cool if he were a leader class? Absolutely!
