Anyone else pick up the X-mods Bumblebee and Barricade R/C Cars?

Well, I was given $100.00 by my parents for Christmas (we find it much easier for me to just buy what I want with the money and wait until Christmas to open it) and I decided to go to Radioshack.

Upon getting there, I see that they marked down both cars from $50.00 to $30.00, as well as the accessory packs from $15.00 down to $10.00.

So I picked all 4 items up for about $85.00 total. I have to say though, these things look nice. They will probably spend more time on my shelf next to my Alternators than actually being played with, but I still think they were worth picking up.

Anyone else pick these things up, and if so, what do you think? :)

I did not find those...I am giving my 6-year nephew a black convertible Pontiac Solstice that remote controlled, which I found at Target.

I got Barricade,
Put a standard light kit in,
After seeing vids of the lightbar kit in action I'm gonna pass on that.

He's fun to chase the cats around the kitchen with tho

Cheers,
Doug

Nice, i got barricade too.

It's cool and all, but i got the normal headlight and tail light upgrade, as well as the modified-hood and flashing police light bar too.

To anyone else thinking about doing the same, i have a word of caution for you:

It is not possible to run both light kits at one time.

My limited knowledge of electronics seems to suggest that the resistance of headlight/tail light kit seems to be less than that of the overhead police light bar, and electricity like to flow to the direction of least resistance. I'm sure there's more going on there than that, but you get the idea. at any rate, when both kits are connected, the light bar DOES light up, if you hold it to your face, in the dark, and squint. Otherwise it's not noticeable. The normal lights also suffer in their performance ability as well, becoming dimmer.

I got 40ish minutes out of 4 AAA duracell batteries, i'd recommend decent rechargeables. That, and, it is possible from what i've read online to modify the vehicle to accept a 5th and even 6th AAA battery to prolong usage time, as the internal electronics will allow this much more current. Do not connect a 9v battery however unless you like to see how much smoke can come out of your xmod. ;) i'm just saying it's possible, and it's not my fault if you ruin yours or it blows up in your face; i'm sure you could find a tutorial somewhere about how to do it properly.

I hope this information helps.

Also; does anyone know how to fix the problem with the light kits not-working at the same time?

I think you need to get it to run on rechargable cells,
There's a kit knocking around, have seen it on eBay.
If I get a chance I'll pop a link up.

Cheers,
Doug

Those do look like fun, but they should have released the old junky BB version to face off against Barricade, as in the movie. But then, who wants a brand-new toy that looks old and junky, besides us? :P

I do have an XMODS, the Firebird, and it's great. Haven't used it much lately bec. of my TF habit, but I might just pick up these guys sometime. Now, XMODS Barricade appears to be somewhat larger than movie Dlx Barricade, but I wonder if the XMODS weapons kit would fit the Dlx? Might look oversized, but maybe it'll pass. Anyone try it yet?

Def. get rechargeable batts, you'll go broke buying new ones all the time. And get metal wheel nuts from eBay, the plastic ones break all the time. That's why my Firebird is parked, I ran out of nuts. Wheel nuts. Enjoy!

Nope... but I want them SO bad. I saw on YouTube that some guy had done a Bumblebee/Barricade chase "reenactment" using the R/Cs. Makes me want 'em all the more... with lights and everything!
