DINOBOTS toy idea

Ok I recently saw a video on youtube where a guy says the dinobots are the worst transformers.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=6YnhbpWWjtg

because
1) dinosaurs are extinct so it's a dumb disguise
2) they don't even look like real dinosaurs
3) they are dumb

SO, MY SOLUTION
1) who cares dinosaurs ROCK!!!!
2) make them look like excavated dinosaurs with bones, fossils, dirt/ice.
3) don't make them dumb, but they can have cultural differences,
perhaps a communication barrier because they speak in an ancient
language or something...

To each his own I guess,

I happen to like the Dinobots they way they were i the cartoon, ohh, and they were only dumb in the cartoon. In the Comic book they were actually Intelligent, and cunning beings.

So its not much of a disguise, who cares. They are children's play things. And as children we have imagination. The weren't usually around populated areas anyway.

I think The Original Dinbobots totally rock.

yeah totally for kids,
they were the comic relief.

but it kinda implies that cavemen were dumb, like if we are so brilliant
today.... it shows ignorance on our part to do this, it would be like
showing indigenous tribes as stupid.. oh wait we already do that...

I'm trying to say if you want a comic relief, put in a funny character, based on their personality not on their "cultural" background.

I like that in the comic book they were cunning.

as for the toy, since they were originally designed for a completely diff.
toyline, I believe it's safe to say that their design is outdated.
But then we run across Beastwars.... can we say Megatron?

what a big mess, Hasbro should be so happy that their fans are so
forgiving

I like to think of the Dinobots as a strike team, to be used when the battle has already erupted and disguise is no longer an issue.

The G1 dinos were awsome. Clearly the maker of the video is a total moron.

I would have the dinobots as transformers that came to earth in prehistoric times, but fell into suspended animation until being revived in the present day.

If they do them in any of the sequels, I would keep them as robotic dinosaurs similar in appearance to the originals, but that switch on a sort of flickering holographic projection to appear like flesh and blood dinos.

It would rule!

The guy who made the video is a TF fan, as well. Everyone has their dislikes/likes about specific Transformers characters. It's normal to have an opinion about them.

The guy is an idiot. He uses the cartoon as sample, but in the cartoon the dinobots alt modes weren't meant to be disguises. With so much power he could use Scorponok or Trypticon for examples.

He's not an idiot. He just hasn't watched the show in 20 years.
how could he remember every minute of the show.
Maybe, I'm just saying this cause I subscribe but he makes a good point. even though they never had to be in disquise. also the vid aint for us diehard fans. its for normal youtube people.

You're not very good at voicing your arguments, are you? Do you think that making the Dinobots look like excavated fossils will help with their disguise? Or even their aesthetic appearence? :-?

TBH, I actually sympathise with Blunty. The Dinobots were created during a time when dinosaurs were all the rage. You had The Land Before Time, Dinosaucers, Denver the Last Dinosaur and loads of other miscelleaneous dino merchandise. (Even Calvin from Calvin & Hobbes seems to have been swept up in the fad.) So it seemed like a natural move that Transformers should cash in on their popularity by releasing their own band dinosaurs, even if they made mincemeat of the "Robots in Disguise" slogan. The Dinobots also seemed horribly mismanaged in the cartoon, being demeaned to little more than mechanical cavemen. At first I was shocked at their sudden change of personality in Dreamwave's comics, but now I realize this is closer to what was originally jotted down on their tech specs. (My only gripe is that DW still retained Grimlock's ill-conceived speech impediment.)
Today, the Dinobots live on as part of the main G1 cast, but perhaps that's where they should remain. With their planned ressurection in Animated and Transformers 2, I wonder if "Robots in Disguise" might finally be tossed to the wind.

So don't knock Blunty. He's perfectly just in his opinion and can at least express it more convincingly than screaming "who cares dinosaurs ROCK!!!!"

*secretly guides wympyr to the DinoZone/DinoZaurs lines by Bandai*

That line has dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals, done as chromed (inaccurate) skeletons with transparant plastic for the body mass. The animals include:

- Mammoth
- Pteranodon
- Triceratops
- Saber Toothed Tiger
- Tyrannosaurus (No, it's not Power Rangers :P)
- Brachiosaurus
- Stegosaurus

- Centrosaurus
- Torosaurus (Actually a Chasmosaurus)
- Styracosaurus

- Pachycephalosaurus
- Kentrosaurus
- Archelon (prehistoric turtle)

- Chinese Dragon
- Dragon
- Bat

That guy just says crazy crap to get people to check out his YouTube Channel. I've heard of him before.. he is the guy that used to stick a porn clip mid way into this video's and give them "misleading" titles lol.

Don't pay him much attention because if he hated the Dinobots so much... i'm sure he would of heard of a thing called ebay and a Nice shiny sludge like that one could fetch 40-50 bucks easy.

oh man,
are you crazy or what?
who cares dinosaurs rock is similar to saying, hey dinosaurs are the fad right now so let's put them in even if they don't really fit.

we are saying the same thing, geesh your blind.
and yes I do think think it would help their disguise because if a human
walked upon something like that laying on the dirt or in a mountain
it would seem much more natural than a perfectly preserved dinosaur
unless they can pretend like they are filming Jurassic park 8 or something. DUH
and as far as looks go, think about it, some of the G1 dinobots have gold skeleton looking pieces in them so it's NOT a bad idea if done well. you haven't even seen it done and your already saying negative stuff.
I like the G1 Dinobot designs, is there a problem with that?
BUt I also think that guy has some points, although I don't think
the dinobots are the stupidest toys, I think he is just trying to act clever than he really is like someone.

I'm not flaming your childhood treasure so take a chillpill, we are
talking about toys dude, you really want to put me down for this?
what's your problem?

I think the original besmircher of the Dinobots just wanted to snarl at something.

I'm totally hoping for Dinobots in the next movie. I loved them in 1984, and I love them now.

I'm starting to wonder if english is your first language. For a person who's "saying the same thing" as me, you seem to take a different stance entirely regarding the Dinobots' credibility as robots in disguise. Your excavation scenario made me laugh. I mean, you'd have to be really thick if you don't think it's unusual to stumble across an exposed dinosaur skeleton just lying around on the mountainside without anyone tending to it. Even if passing observers are so infantile as to disregard the distinct lack of paleontologists, the rocky mountains would probably be the only location such skeletons would be seen (outside of a museum), which presents a significant disadvantage to the rest of the Autobots who can roll freely through the city streets without fear of exposure.

But still, thanks for telling me all that. Remind me to disguise myself as as a dinosaur fossil next time I want sneak past you and nab your TF's.

I'm not sure if I understand what you're getting at, but here's how I see it. Either a) you mean like mounted museum skeletons, or b) you mean like where the dino bones have been exposed and cleaned, but are still embedded in the rock.

In the case of a) there would be very little bulk to disguise a giant robot.

In the case of b), what you'd have would basically be similar to the concept of 'rock lords'. As has been mentioned, a massive fossil wouldn't be the most inconspicuous of disguises, and really begs the question, why not disguise as just a regular, less attention-getting rock?

I'm in favour of keeping the dinobots as dinosaur robots in any future incarnations. I don't see the point if they're not going to be dinosaurs(a la alternators Grimlock). You can invent plenty of reasons why they would take dino form.

Besides, what was Scorponok all about in the movie? What kind of a 'disguise' was that? I know you get scorpions in the desert, but come on.

1) Dinosaurs aren't a fad. Pretty much every kid goes through a dinosaur phase (including me and Calvin). Admittedly at that point, though, there was a bit of a surge on. Not sure about the Land Before Time, though, I think that was a bit after.

2) Like JelZe said, the embedded fossil idea was used for Dinozaurs, but that wouldn't help at all toward disguises, it's easily as conspicuous.

3) As for 'cultural differences', that really isn't necessary. Their attitude makes them outcast enough as it is, without throwing a language barrier into the mix.

As someone said earlier, I like the concept of them basically as shock troops - almost like the way IDW are handling Sixshot. If the Dinos are on the scene, you're way past keeping it quiet.

very true about Scorponok & many other TF.

have a better alt. form, my opinion is not set in stone, you understand
this and bring up many good points instead of being negative and rude.
I'm just tossing ideas, and it only makes me appreciate Rocklords more!

About the only way dino alt modes are a digguise is if you're in prehistory (or that sort of environment) or a museum.

The fossil idea might be nice .... for ONE dino. But, like Rock Lords, I wouldn't like to see more than one.

A dino made of bones would be fun. I like the skeletal look. Like Dinobot 2, but more boney.

Anyway, whoever is hung up on the "rbots in disguise" idea missed most the second season of Beast Wars all the way until Cybertron. Being in disguise is NOT a pre-requisite for Transforming.
