Yeah, you can buy newsmoke stacks molded off the Japanesse version.
I understand switching them is a matter of 2 screws and a spring. The spring part is what makes me reluctant to upgrade, I've never had much luck with those.

I actually just did this. I got mine from "Ages three and up"(a website if you didn't already know that), they come with instructions and it's not hard at all. I actually had a harder time upgrading my reissue Ultra Magus. It makes the truck mode more convincing.

I got them. They are great. Chrome finish. Though putting them in is sort of a pain. The spring is a pain but it's doable. The issue in my opinion is the screws. Becareful not to strip the screws, I kind of did it on one and now I am having issues tightening the arm again, though it looks MUCH better.

Ebay. Thats where you buy them from, and to install them you HAVE to take apart the shoulders. Its REALLY simple, three screws and a spring, just use some common sense and be methodical and remember where the spring go and you'll be fine. Trust me its so worth the effort.

I never got instructions with mine.
I unscrewed his shoulders and pretty much had to pry the existing ones out. You mess the spring up and I don't have the patience to try and get the spring BACK into my new chrome ones, but you don't need the spring for these as they are in there pretty snug, but you can still move them up and down if you need to. mine just stand straight up and if i need to move them i cant. they are just like a normal joint now, but snug. not sure what the spring was for in the first place

The spring is there for a purpose for the original molded stacks. They're a bit smaller and made to move up and down so that transforming the arms is possible without breaking the stacks. The ones I got from A3U are pretty snug too. My only complaint would have been that they're the same piece. That means you see the mold fill detail (which SHOULD be on the back of both pieces) on the front of one of them. It isn't really noticable unless you're anally retentive. They look wonderful on Magnus. Yes, Magnus. Mine had shoddy stacks out of box.
