The Masterpiece G-1 Skyfire/Jetfire Question.....

Assuming that Takara Tomy decides to Produce a Masterpiece Skyfire/Jetfire, there are allot of questions they have to ask themselves in order to produce a very accurate model..so I'm gonna ask the fandom what i think are centralist questions to getting to the bottom of the Jetfire/Skyfire mystery..

Ok, weigh in your thoughts... we have had numerous interpretations of our favorite Skyfire and Jetfire toys..

we have had the classics version, the original which was a repaint of the Macross Valkyrie VF-01S and numerous customs based on that one particular toy...

There have been many versions in various Media as well...dreamwave's, Marvel's, and IDW's interpretation..Iaconcity's version...and the cartoon

So here is my question for the fandom:

1. Which Likeness Version of Skyfire should Takara Tomy create?
2. What name should he be branded with, Skyfire or Jetfire?
3. should his scale be larger then Optimus Prime and Megatron?
4. Is Jetfire and Skyfire now considered different bots?
5. What accessories should the toy include, I.E. Removable helmet, back pack, removable Decepticon symbol, etc...??

these 5 questions are central to what I think is where the fandom rests as to the general concensus on the issues of Skyfire/Jetfire..

what is the final word on him..?

is he one version from now on, or the original, what is the collective Fandom's definitive Design of Skyfire??

Is he always gonna have different interpretations in Generation one releases?

What factors seperate Jetfire from Skyfire?

I believe there are a few items that are a must:
He must be atleast 50% if not more, accurately similar to the cartoon designs..established in Generation One..

My personal stand is..

This is Skyfire, and should be the similar design used for the Masterpiece, though maybe smaller in size for cost reasons...

I'm a Skyfire guy. Prefer the design and the name. Jetfire is simply a Macross leftover to me. And though the Valks are neat figures if I want one I'll by a macross toy.

Call him SkyFire, and yeah he should be bigger than Optimus, or at least to size.

The closer to the origional would be best for me, but I like the ides of his wings positioned above him, as apose to hanging below.

I know there's alot that can be one with this figure, but I still fear an AutoBot Seeker Repaint, with some crappy bio depicting him as a renegade seeker :?

What about Classics Jetfire? He's a mixture of both designs. Do you have some sort of love/hate relationship with him?

I think if we were to get a MP version, I'd want Skyfire, 'toon accurate.

I love my Classics Jetfire, no doubt about it, but it's far past time that Skyfire got some love.

As for size, accessories, etc, he definitely needs to be bigger than Prime, but not too much bigger. If he's too big, the price tag would be rather astronomical. Coming with a removable Decepticon logo would be a must (I mean come on, they included Meg's lighsaber that he used for what, all of 10 seconds?) but other than that, what accessories could he have? Did he have a helmet in the cartoon? Been a while since I've seen anything but the episode where he first shows up. Speaking of which, why the hell didn't the Autobots just dig him out of the ice at the end instead of saying "Oh well, he's buried again...let's go home"?

Oh and just a little nitpick here, but it's VF-1S not VF-01S Skywarp. Not trying to be an ass, but I just had to point that out.

Hastak should just outsource the project to Yamato and give us a Skyfire-decoed special edition Macross valk. The 1/48 ones are already masterpiece figures.

as much as i love my 1/48 valk, i would love to see a g1 accurate mp figure.

I also REALLY like the idea of a removable con emblem. And it only makes sense that he would be slightly larger than prime/megs.

Thats a pretty big assumption based on absolutely no evidence there.

We it cant look like the Macross toy due to licence so it wold have to more closely resemble the Cartoon/Comic book renditions of the character. Personally Id go for the Don Figueroa design from Dreamwaves G1 ongoing.

My personal opinion is that if made he should like like this:

Not this:

Or this:

I'm happy with either.

skywarp-2 wrote:3. should his scale be larger then Optimus Prime and Megatron?

Not quite sure what you asking but I'll say this to fit with the show the robot mode should probably be taller than Convoy/Megatron but TBH I'd rather he was the same hight. Obviously the scale can't match both Prime and Megatrons alt modes because they are totally different scales.

skywarp-2 wrote:4. Is Jetfire and Skyfire now considered different bots?

Not by me they ain't. And is 'ARE' not 'IS'.

skywarp-2 wrote:5. What accessories should the toy include, I.E. Removable helmet, back pack, removable Decepticon symbol, etc...??

All of the above.

Not that agreeing on anything will make any difference whatsoever to what Takara do or don't do should they decide to make an MP Jetfire which lets face it is pretty darn unlikely to say the least.

If I recall right, the Don Fig designs are a more detailed take on the G1 toon.

He added a helmet that resembles the G1 toy to kind of tie them together. Such a clever boy!

To answer #1, that would be a good version!

#2 I'm cool with either name also, but since I see the MPs as being largely based on the G1 toon designs, I'd pick Skyfire, I guess.

#3 I suspect he's asking if the toy, in bot mode, should be larger then Prime and Megs. I'd go with a resounding "Yes!"

I'd be willing to pay up to about $150 for this toy, and would expect it to be larger than prime by a some margin.

#4 To me they are the same character.

#5 I don't think the backpack needs to be removable, but that would be cool if it was. All the other mentioned bits would work too.
