This might have already been mentioned , but does anyone know what or when the new toyline will be released?

There's been talk of a post Movie cartoon (which apears to be unrelated to the movie), but we as yet know nothing of the acompanying toy line.

Of course we all hope that the classics n altinators will make a return too.

I'm fairly sure that Alts. will return. They've been way to successful for Hasbro to ignore. Same is to be said with the the classics. They are very popular but may have just benn a short run to appease fans before the movie.

...and I'm sad that you're probably right.

A post movie line won't start rearing its ugly head until after October at best. They have to give the Movie line at least a 3 months after the movie comes out. so if they have anything planned, don't expect it before Thanksgiving. We'll be swimming in Movie merchandise for the rest of the year.

As long as they bring back the Alts and Classics, that's all I care about. If I have to wait another year, so be it. Late is always better than never.

Meh, not all of us... The alts honestly don't do anything for me. Only so much you can do with a line like that, and the appeal just wore off to me.

Classics, on the other hand, I want more of. It's given us bettter variety in its short time than Alernators did in is run, and has produced some of the best mold in recent memory. And the G1 nostalgia? Meh, if you like that kinda thing it's there, but it doesn't get in the way, which is good.

My one wish, though, is for the scope of the line to be expanded, past the G1 cartoon. I would love to see Classics branch out, including characters whose day in the sun was in print, as well as possibly even notable characters from later cartoons... A Classics wave consisting of Nightbeat, Jhiaxus, Rattrap, and Sky-Byte would make me pass out from excitement.

Rattrap had a 'CLASSICs' figure in the 10th Anniversary BW line... I'd prefer if CLASSICs stuck to G1 with all the characters that they have to choose from...

I kinda meant a new mold for Rattrap, or really for any of the BW characters now that the 10th anniversary is over... I have a feeling Titanium Cheetor's gonna be the last we hear of the Maximals, and even then, that's Beast Machines, which was, er... Well, I'm sure everyone here will understand when I say it was Beast Machines.

With Alternators already out there, movie counterparts on the way, and most of Titanium and all of Classics thus far except for the Minicons and one Legends figure being G1 homages, not to mention countless others from Universe, RiD, and all three Unicron Trilogy lines, I'd really like to see the rest of the franchise's history not being "token non-G1 homage" is all I'm saying.

Moving on, though... If you don't agree with me on that, can we at least agree that a Classics Wreck-Gar or Nightbeat would be preferable to, say, Classics Sideswipe or Tracks?

Yeah, a decent Wreck-Gar would be nice. For the sake of size ratio I'd hope he was no bigger than Bumblebee though. I rarely get motorcycle transformers just because they look so ridiculous next to cars.

One thing I'd really like to see would be more minicons, but done up as targetmasters as well. The Rescue and Air Attack teams from Armada were a good start, but as we've seen with the Cybertron minicons, they can be name so much niftier with less restricted robot modes.

Also...Classics Huffer, please! And Gears! My army will not becomplete without those two lovable jerks.

Yeah, my last purchase was classics Jetfire and i'm saddened that I won't see another mold as good as that (for me) for a long time or possibly at all. Damn that guy is beyond awesome.

I still want a PROPER classics magnus, an optimus trailer and more decepticons.

I can't see why Hasbro doesn't just pad out Classics during the run of movie toys with slight repaints of some of the Energon and Cybertron molds, since you know if they get a chance they're gonna stuff more repaints into the line. Can't cost that much to take Superlink Wheeljack, alter his red/green color scheme and give him blue light-piping to make Classics Wheeljack.

Nonsense, there's plenty left to be done. But you're thinking [much Hasbro probably will] in one direction. More modern cars... But there's a whole world of Vehicles left to exploit; boats, tanks, planes, helicopters, Pope Mobiles...

Hasbro needs to have faith in its collectors and release variations in the Alt line. There's a hundred years worth of cars out there alone to fill the line. You could resurrect the Laserrods and release a wave of Streetrods. Give me a Seadoo as Seaspray... Release the MP Starscream mold as all three seekers. Give me the pieces needed to make a 1:24 Menasor.

Not really, but a Classics Shockwave would kick ass.

They would be better off aiming at 'classicing' the less poseable or available of the original G1 toys, Ratchet and Ironhide for example or the ones that never made it to toys in the first place like Jihaxus and a Nemesis Prime that doesnt cost a large mortgage.

I also take offence at the 'z' in this thread title.

Meh, I was under the impression that the Alternators line was exclusively for 1:24 scale versions of liscensed, current-model cars. Thus far, I haven't been contradicted. If Hasbro decided to change the premise, I'd be all for it... the line NEEDS a drastic change in order to work any longer. the new Ravage looks like a good start, but too little too late.

If they want to branch out into motorcycles, RVs, et cetera, I'd be all for it. Hell, as far as I'm concerned, why stop there? Redo some Beast Wars characters with the San Diego Zoo's logo on the box the new molds come in! Get Sony to let you urn one of their CD players into Soundwave or Blaster! Kodak Reflector! The sky should be the limit... Instead, the surface is barely scratched. The line is set up so everything's too similar... That's what's killing it.

Yeah, the z is too "leet" for my tastes too, but that's neither here nor there.

Also, there are three Nemesis Prime toys out there, plus the other various versions of RiD Scourge, so that's less of an issue... And really, Nemesis Prime is far less Classics material than, say, Sunstorm if we're gonna be Geewunners about this. :P

Jhiaxus had the Kay-Bee exclusive repaint of BM Jetstorm, but, well... Can't really say I get where they were going with that one, othe than trying to grab the name before someone else did.

Me, I think the Classics line should try to pick more characters who haven't been reissued and/or homaged to death. How many Starscreams do we need? Astrotrain, on the other hand, was a great choice... He had a fairly limited reissue, and the only homage he ever really got was a club exclusive that was released AFTER the classics figure.

I agree that there should be room for Shockwave though... He's only got Shockblast as a homage, and he's a very prominent character to boot. Blaster would be another good example of someone who should be in classics if it continues, for exactly the same reason... Major player in G1 and pretty much tossed aside afterwards.

Partly because they want a toy that looks like his comic incarnation, but also in large part because it was a Kay Bee exclusive that, IIRC, didn't get a very big release even by those standards, so many people might not even know it exists.

And that's the point we're both trying to make I think.

Still for all the what ifs out there, Hasbro is out to make money. The unfortunate matter is that there's little profit in single release molds that require buying the rights to use the "likeness". I tend to forget this as much as anyone though when I get a third Jeep mold of a B-String player.

Still the Alternators is a premier line for Transformers. Quality design and engineering, and a great nod back to the origins of Transformers. I'm not asking for a flood of Alts after the movie, just a steady trickle that keeps me and my bank account happy.

Yeah, but it looks like we think the same way, but for different reasons... I stopped picking up Alts after Tracks when I couldn't find Meister, and I found that I didn't miss them... The vast majority were just too similar. There's only so any cars-to-robot TFs I can buy before they start to all look too much like each other, escpecially with the additional restictions on the Alternators or leaving the inside of the car intact, having the hood open, etc. I may pick up Skids or Prime at some point, but the rest are just more Autobot cars, and I'd rather have those in basic or deluxe sizes where they have an excuse to blend in.

Yeah see, I think that if they managed to show a little ambition they could salvage the line with a little creativity if nothing else. Instead of giving me a red truck and calling it Prime, at least give him a two tone paint job and make him resemble his G1 self.

And Skids is a great figure. Crappy car... great robot.

Wreck Gar would be a good choice. I agree with those who have called for less-used/reissued characters to be given a chance in any future Classics line. Mirage, Astrotrain and Ramjet have all been nice to see. How about Huffer, Inferno, Springer, Blitzwing or Cyclonus too?

I would also love to see how the Classics might tackle:
The Insecticons
Any combining team
and the Jumpstarters! It seems like the Classics line can make any character look fresh and new, so I'd love to see a modern take on these guys :D

And finally, mark me down as one who really wants a decent Magnus released. Can't wait for the Titanium one though!
