The Energon Pub

I currently have 2 Target Movie Scouts that are repaints of their Energon selves; Arcee and Airraid. One thing puzzles me. Both have these little things that the instructions call "Energon Chips". What are these supposed to be and do from the series?

Energon stars or chips came with these figures in their initial release.

The larger bots in the Energon line had circles around their "Spark Crystals" that these could attach to as a way of simulating a power bost.

Only the basic scout Energon Terrorcons and Omnicons came with these as even though they where battle ready, they where the workers of the series whos job wwas to gather Energon.

Instead of cubes, these stars and chips wher how they prosseced energon. They are also supose to materialaze the energon weapons of the omi/terrocon for the larger bot, but without mass shifting...

In the Energon cartoon, the chips were the equivalent of the G1 energon cubes. Whenever a transformer got a chip attached to them is when they were able to summon their energon weapons (the bow and the spear for your two).
