This can either be a figure that was made or just a prototype but I would love to know what some of the dumbest ideas for a transformers are.

One man's trash is anothers treasure. This "will" start some flaming ... if it goes anywhere.

There is nothing stupid about transformers. There's always somebody who will like a given figure or idea. Even those ridiculously expensive clear protoforms. Ewww!

In my personal opinion (and no offence intended to those who disagree):

- Anything painted black and called "Nemesis" something, especially Prime

- Anything made in clear plastic and dubbed "Ghost of..."

- Ultra Magnus being downgraded to just an albino version of Prime

- Beast Wars

- Head/Target/Powermasters

- Soundblaster

- Blaster :)

- Arcee, Elita-1 and every other female Transformer

- Classics Devastator

- BotCon 2007 "Classics" Huffer & Springer

- 2007 Movie Megatron

- Sky Lynx

- Primus and/or the entire notion of Cybertron actually being a giant robot instead of just a planet

- Galvatron being the reincarnation of Megatron - always wished he was just a separate character altogether... along with Cyclonus & the Sweeps not being reformatted versions of dead Cons either

- The idea that any combinber, especially Predaking, would somehow be bigger than Devastator

- The Stunticons, The Terrorcons, The Seacons

- The fact that Blast-Off from The Combaticons is some sort of "battle" space shuttle while the other members are normal military vehicles

- Pretenders

- Mass shifting

- Broadside & Octane triple-changers

- The new Animated line

Just off the top of my head :)

omg. -flame flame- i love those clear protoforms. jk about the flaming, but i do like them. in fact i have a soft spot for translucent tfs, like some other people do.

i wont say any of them are bad ideas, since all designs seem to have fans, but personally im not a fan of robot replicas or some others like happy meal transformers, fabs, or robot heroes. but that's just me.

That initial prototype looked almost like the planet mode in it's robot mode, which were both horrendous.


The newer prototype, however, was magnificent.

The idea that Cybertron should be "techno-organic"

I agree with those really early G1 unicron prototypes- though that Beast-era one was awesome.

To me the dumbest idea has to be constant repainting of the same character... as a different version of the same character! Don't get me wrong, some of them are good as far as repaints go, but its nothing more than a cheap way to trick worshippers of the character to spend more money.

And stop hating on not-Devastator gestalts, cellshock *half joking*

Robot Heroes
Transformers Busts and Statues.

Basically any representation of Transformer characters (aside from humans) that don't transform.

I mean it does defeat the purpose of Transformers as a whole ....

I never really cared for Beast Wars in general. I look back now and see that I passed up some nice figures.

Cybertron keys, just another piece to possibly lose.

For some reason I don't care for missles that fire. If I had a nickle for everytime I lost or broke missles from my Transformers or GIJoes I'd be a rich man right now.

These are just my personal feelings, I don't mean to upset or offend anyone.

I'm going to say the Mini-con. Some features won't work on a figure unless a Mini-con is locked in place. Same goes with the Cybertron Key.

I agree, the Cyber-key is pretty dumb on it's own. However, from my experience with Cybertron figures(don't have that many), the gimmick itself doesn't hamper the figure, cause they only need that small space, and there are no external buttons or anything.
