What's the Robot Masters story?

I just recently began collecting the Robot Masters figures after winning a couple on eBay for cheap. My knowledge of Japanese is absolute zero, so I can't read the story on the back of the boxes or in the little comic inside them. Does anyone know what the story line (if there is one) behind these figures is?

It's pretty much Japan's version of Universe, I think.

Sort of, only with less "Epic good vs evil" and more "Everyone pretty much shows up in mid-G1 for no real reason".

Oh, now I know. And knowing is half the battle! Sorry, just had to get that in there. I've been meaning to get some of the RM fiugures for some time now, but my budget doesn't allow for it.

Only one I have is Wingstun (or Winston as I like to call him) but would love to get more. The story could be a bit better though, it sounds like someone wrote it as a fan fic for their favourite characters.
