it appears real. I can't really tell without some better close up pics of it.

The wear on the box seems to indicate age.

It make actually be one of the new fake ones. Getterdragun just did a news story about this the other day. If you look at the top of the "window" on the box it is a straight line...where as the original had a small incline half way acorss it.

you can view that article here.

It's fake. The indention on the window goes up to the right on the real box, adjusting for the height of the trailer. If you look really closely at the window on the one in the auction, it starts out high on the left side and slopes down at the trailer. Unless anyone has ever seen this variance in the original box, I'd say it's fake.

There are a few other things that I noticed but am not 100% sure about that maybe someone else checking out this thread can confirm. If I remember correctly there shouldn't be a crease on the back of the box from the top flap of the cardboard. I also believe that the text such as the date at the lower left hand of the box is supposed to be black instead of white. The other thing that bothers me is that bright white styrofoam. I have some boxes from some of my toys as a kid that have been stored in my closet and they have discolored a little. I noticed that when I am looking up G1 Transformers on ebay I am constantly running across auctions for foam inserts and they have discolored too. I just find it odd that the foam looks so new. Hopefully someone may be able to confirm or deny a few of the things I pointed out.

Definitely looks like one of those new KOs to me. Damn they are getting good at those though. Makes me glad I'm not a G1 MISB buyer, its gonna get to a point where they are completely identical.

How about the light border around the three photos on the front of the box? In the other thread it looks to me that an original box has no border around these pics, while the knockoff has a white or light grey border around the photos.

But, I am far from an expert...

The box in the first picture looks like it has an indentation. So I would say that the box is real. But that doesn't mean that the figure is real because it is not sealed.

Looking at the picture again, I think the thing that looks like an indentation is just a shadow.

As shown in GetterDragun's article, this box is missing the step in the window, and it has the white borders on the pictures. This indicates that it is one of these latest wave of fakes.

I've just sent a question to that eBayer about posting a up close high res picture of the front side of the box...

After examining the photos and zooming in over and over again, i am inclined to say that the ebayer who purchased it got a bonifide real 1980s ptimus prime and at a fair price considering the condition and box. I understand the indentation of the original, and i believe its there, in the larger box at the bottom, i noticed it looked like the top photos were merely shadows, but when i zoomed in and got a better look of the truck inside the box, the indentation is present, though it certainly looks to disappear.. also the stirofoam itself is a bit discolored and yellowish on the inside of the outer walls of the box.. its just been whited out due to the flash of the digital camera..but apon closer inspection, i did see the color changes.. and though slight, they are there.. so in my point of view this ebay seller is a lucky bastard.. Happy St. Patties!!!

I would say it's real. It looks exactally like my MISB Prime from back in the day (it was a wednesday, BTW)

I still wouldn't mind seeing some higher quality pics to clear up any doubts others me be having.

I can barely see it, but there isa small indent in the bow where it should be. I know, it's barely noticable, but it is there. On another note, if it is real, I'm amazed at the styrofoam condition. I only say this because the styrofoam on my MIB Trypticon is a little beat up..........

guys, i hate to say this to you, but your looking at it wrong. there does appear to be a very minute kink, which is probably just shadows, but even if it is a kink, its going the wrong way.

this pic:

and thos one:

Image

shows what does look like a kink, were the opeining goes up wider over the cab.

now look at the box getter posted in his article:

Image

do you see what i mean? the kink is supposed to go up wider over the trailer, not the cab.

also, the small pics on the real g1 box dont have the white border.

and, to those that say that the flap on top is creased which is wrong, well, ive seen many a g1 box creased rightthere. including the ones i have from when i was a kid.

my perents would fold that down, so they could wrap it. and ive had bozes shipped to me the same way, so thats not a very good indication. basicly, when a sale is up like this that looks fake, your only going to have 1 way to know for sure

have them transform the cab, and take a pic of its back.

the origional g1 prime mold was either damaged or lost, every reissue, and fake that ive seen, uses the g2 prime mold, which only has 1 diffrence. the little peice that sticks out from his back has a hole in it to attach the soundbox, g1 didnt.
