Hobbylink MP-05 trick?

Hmm, I just noticed the following in the MP-05 description:

HobbyLink Japan understands and appreciates the desires of US-based toy collectors related to merchandise of this nature, and we feel this is the best solution to meet those needs under the circumstances. In order to maintain your item's compliance with US laws, we recommend that you not remove the plastic cap after you have received the item.

Umm, I wonder if they are going to just put a plug on and not glue it. "We recommend not removing the plug", huh? Not like its illegal to have a megs with no plug. Just to take it through customs, last I checked. So, is that hint that it is easily removable and just for customs show? I am thinking it is a not so subtle hint.

:-? :-? :-?

Has this already been discussed in this context?

I haven't heard about this before, so as far as I know it's a new topic. It certainly seems like a reassuring hint, doesn't it?

It certainly does to me. With the Pepsi Prime on sale as well, I might cave in and get a big order from them to minimize shipping.

The more I think about it, the more this makes sense. Unlike BBTS, who stand to lose a whole shipment, HSJ would only lose individual items and could just claim that it was a faulty plug. Plus, being overseas, I believe they would be free from prosecution. Plus they can claim that they advised buyers to not remove the plug. However, the advice also means that its absolutely possible to remove the plug. :-P

Or am I totally off base here?

first things first. I heard the orange was going to be painted on.? Now its a plug? Either way for others and I, we will be making the silencer and stock, (which will most likley cover the orange parts in gun mode.) But paint or plug, everyone will more than likely remove them anyway.-and as stated earlier, there is no law against that.

Well, the use of the word remove, would seem to imply either a plug or some very disolvable paint. I might not have noticed this info. Does anyone know for a fact how Hobbylink is planning on doing the orange tip?

I feel bad for posting this as it appears as if this topic has been beaten to death, so forgive my ignorance.

Also, I am very partial to Hobbylink and would prefer to order through them rather than anyone else.

So this thing won't already come with the stock and silencer?
I could handle the blaze orange, but that is kinda what makes Megatrons alt mode.

I don't ever remember seeing him transform and not have those attachments.

Seems they should be included.

I have alreadyy touched on this topic, and for those who browse this forum for the toy company watch dogs and such, please bear in mind that if we announce anything promising, that may have to prompt them from doing what they are already planning to do..that said, i know exactly whats gonna happen to the MP-05. I have a friend who works at Hobby link and I will answer those questions but only through e-mail and not here on this post.

well

Well, all I have to say is that if these companies are applying any kind of "safety" measure people need to not complain if it is totally removable.

We all love HLJ and other Asian vendors that allow us to import such items, we all know in the U.S. that if some kid got a hold of this and was shot, some crazy, Holiness people would not stop until they sued HLJ up and down, writing the President and screaming that it was their fault for importing it, that got little Johhny killed.

It is a sad fact but the U.S. is filled with sue happy people, in my line of work I deal with playground equipment and believe me the regulations boggle the mind compared to the "fun" things I had when I was younger, kids now are lucky if they can have any fun on today’s "anti-fun" equipment.

In short these companies know about U.S. citizens and simply are trying to cover themselves by complying to the international law of the country they are exporting to.

It's been talked about by more people then just yourself and by people that are directally invold in the decisions being made.

I have a close friend that deals with HLJ directly and knows most everyone on a first named basis. For Canada anyways, this won't be a problem. For the states, they are only covering their own hides. It will be a plug, (a little orange thing that looks like crosshairs about an inch deep into the barrel.) From what I understand anyways.

Actually in a lot of cities and counties it is illegal to have a realisitc gun in your possesion in public. If you have a realistic looking toy gun in site in your car and you get pulled over you can be facing fines and even in jail time depending on the city or county laws and ordinances. I once read that St Paul was trying to pass a law that carries up to a 25 year jail sentence for carrying a fake gun. I wouldn't want to find out the hard way that Megatron was illegal in my city. I believe in most cases though as long as it stays inside your home, you should be okay.

Either way I'd reccomend that when MP-05 does arrive at your doorstep you don't get all excitied and run inside the bank to show all your teller friends. :D

I had a thought the other day and this seems like a relevant thread to post it in.

If/when they make MP-07 Ultimate Complete Megatron (with the stock and silencer attachment) won't the silencer need to have an orange cap thing on it as well?

Probably, but considering that MP-05 is likely to be two or three times the size of the original Megatron, it is unlikely that anyone could misktake MP-05 with a two foot + long barrel for anything other than a toy.

True, but you know how paranoid positions in authority can get.

I'm hoping they will release the silencer and stock as a seperate accessory much like they did the trailer for MP-01 Optimus, that way I don't have to worry about trying to get an additional Megatron imported into the country.

I hope they don't make the silencer and stock out of card board and include it in the box like they did for the trailers for MP-01 and MP-02.

Bottom line, if they are going to open the package and f*ck with your toy, regardless of having to comply with toy laws, they need to offer a discount.

They are destroying our ability to get a MIB toy. That means by no damn reason whatsoever, should we have to pay full price for a f*cked with toy.

Like I've always said, eBay will be our friend for pristine, non opened MP-05's.
