Movie Voyager Megatron

Finally received the beast today... Tons of springs on that thing! And guess what? The jet mode is huge with the wings deployed!! More info to come as I try to transform it properly... :)

Image

Quick notes :

-Ice is not removeable
-Missile launches by retracting the silver piece on the gun
-There's a lever at the back of the jet... you pull and the wings move forward...
-Feet are spring-loaded : if you lift Megatron off the ground, they fold automatically
-Claws are poseable and retract for jet mode
-Some automorphing : as you unfold the feet for robot mode, the ice patches move up on the lower legs
-As you rotate the chest into position for robot mode, the torso ice patch moves down and reveals the head
-The jet rolls on 3 little wheels (2 on the feet and on the lower part of the chest (hidden by the ice patch in bot mode)
-Plenty poseable : head (ball joint), shoulders (click joints, bicep swivel, lower arm moves up/down, poseable claws, waist rotates, hips (click joints in both directions : front/rear, side to side), knees (swivels + front/rear click joints), feet (ball joints).
-Shoulders pads are spring-loaded (not sure why yet)
-The clear wing tip is made of soft plastic and the clear middle part of the wing is of harder plastic (still slightly flexible)

To transform from robot mode to jet mode...

-straighten the legs and rotate them 180 degrees
-rotate the waist 180 degrees
-lift the wings/backback until it's parallel to the ground
-move the waist/legs unit to the back (the torso's ice patch will move up to cover the head)
-peg the legs to the jet's tail
-retract the claws
-rotate the gun so it's now between both arm
-bring the arm closer to the middle so you can peg the gun to the torso
-peg the right arm's gun clip to the gun
-straitghten the arms so they point forward
-position the wings (not sure how they should be)

Pretty easy, but fun. The shoulders move down at an angle as you move the waist/legs unit.

That looks pretty neat actually.

I'll be interested to see what it looks like with final details on it.

That looks really big and complicated to be a FAB.

It's not FAB, the seller got it wrong from the start.

That can't be an FAB, he's too big, surely.

Not sure if I like the ice bits or not. :?

It's not done very well, is it? I'm always seduced by trasnslucent plastic, but they could have given it a frosted sugar-coated effect or something.

Definetly not FAB.

In any case, there's something about those twig like fingers i just don't like.

Otherwise its not a bad bot. I might pick him up but i'll have to see him in person first to make a decision.

I just get a feeling like he's something out of Beastwars II???

That's who he reminds me of: (probably just the color scheme, but:)
Botcon exclusive Vice Grip.

Robot mode looks good, but I can't make out a jet. Looks more like a Predacon, or some kinda ice Pokemon, in the alt mode.

wow, i was totally against that version of megs when i saw it, but next to Protofrom Prime, It kinda works out..I may just get him to pose in my protoform section of my collection, since there hasn't been any protofrom bot genre before it makes these bots unique, this will look cool, plus the tie in to the comic is great..Couldn't ask for a better way to bring IDW's books to life.. Not to mention the art has gotten better by leaps and bounds..

Hmmm.. If that is not the FAB then what is the big prototype Megatron that was pictured once before. Is there going to be two Megatron toys, this one and a larger one? The large one sure did not look like that.

Oh and I have a FAB screamer and it is pretty big (almost as tall as Blackout). So just because it is large does not count out that it could have been a FAB.

Or looks like **** :P

Yep, definately gotta get my hands on that. Looks pretty sweet.

BTW, I still think this has gotta be the FAB Megs. We were told it's bigger than the others, and the description with all the springs and what not scream FAB to me. That's my opinion anyway.

According to SKUs, there is :

-Leader Megatron (much bigger, with electronics - we've seen the proto and the finished version in the catalog scan)
-Voyager Megatron (this one)
-FAB Megatron (smaller and simpler)
-Legends Megatron (we've seen a B&W proto of it a while ago)

For Prime :

-Leader Prime (with electronics)
-Voyager Prime (the other Prime proto)
-FAB Prime (we've seen it several times)
-Protoform Prime (deluxe)
-Legends Prime (we've also seen a B&W and a color version of it)

Ah ok this clears it up.

So that really cool non kibblish Optimus is the Voyager one. I like that one better than the leader one that is for sure.

Heh, don't kill me, but I was thinking some variant of the Blue Eyes White Dragon from Yu-Gi-Oh. Blue Eyes White Jetfighter?

Anyways, this thing looks hella cool... Love the scossor-wing action, and totally dig the ice. Will pick this one up.
