MP Megatron has now been released in Japan. He is packaged in his robot mode.

Brief description:
He does not contain as much die-cast as MP Convoy, however his plastic is very sturdy with strong ratcheted joints. Despite his appearance, he is very durable and has no problem standing on his own. His transformation is more complex than MP Starscream.

I have included a couple pictures to show his scale:

(In the first photo a quarter is used as scale reference below Megatron)

Hmm, to be honest, I prefer classics Megatron. The legs put me off on this model, they just look too thing for the body. ._. He needs to eat more.

Good pics, but I have to admit, all the parts that looked silver/chrome in past promo pics suddenly look like mat plastic in these ones... almost like an off-white instead of grey/silver.

I'm gonna wait for the MP-06 one that comes with the gun accessories that are absent on this one.

He is actually silver and chromed plastic, just like the box art. My crappy camera and lighting make it look whiter than it should be.

MP Megatron definitely feels like a Masterpiece. Like I was saying earlier- the transformation and poseability are well executed.

My reservations about his legs are now long gone. :D From the past photos he appeared to have skinny legs, but I think this was due to his lack of reference to scale. He's actually taller than MP Convoy and MP Starscream only comes up to his waist. When you hold him you will no doubt think 'wow' .

His box is bigger than MP-01 & MP-03.

Here's one more photo for you guys to enjoy. (Megatron strangling Starscream). :D

Here's the BIG question...

Is he more DURABLE than MP-03?

Would you feel comfortable transforming him back and forth several times in front of a friend or a friend's kid without worrying about breaking anything?

Yes, he's much more durable than MP-03. There are lots of ball and socket joints, hinge joints that make the "clasping" noise when they shut (just like the G1 commercials), and he has lots of ratcheted joints. The joints on my Megatron were all very tight so the initial transformation took over an hour. But changing him back was easier because the joints were not as stiff.

How does the light up cannon look? And was there any 2 face gimmick? Like Starscream?

Dear Stormrider, I wonder if you can help me. Basicallyt, I'm still undecided about getting one as I don't know if the quality of the figure (as a whole) is up to MP: Prime, so have a few questions I hope that you can answer for me:

1) Is the detailing/painting on the face as poor as it has looked in some pre-release photos? Can you post some close up images from different angles, etc?

2) Is the arm still poseable with the canon on or does it weigh it down?

3) Are the eyes reflective red like Prime's blue ones, or plain matt?

4) Any secret compartments open up in arms, etc?

5) How would you rank it, i.e: best MP, second best etc.?

Cheers,

As it has never once been mentioned, let alone photographed, I doubt it. Not to mention the desing of the head makes it look unlikly.

There was a two-faced gimmick photograph. It demonstrated how his head could be changed from the familair anime-accurate head to a swollen, G1-toy head.
