I have been tempted to open cases I have seen to pull toys out. I know WalMart (at least around here) very rarely puts the stuff out and it usually sits in the back for weeks or months.
Can you get in trouble for doing that?
No, not really.
Now, the employees will try to scare you and will generally be confrontational if you are caught, but you literally have to walk out the door with unpaid merchandise to get in trouble at WalMart.
The thing is, you just have to know what to say. Find an employee. Ask them to open the case. They have to if it is not street dated. If they don't, thank them for their help and go to the front and have a manager paged to help you.
They'll get it for you. Just don't take **** from anyone at WalMart who won't go out of their way to help you.
Customer complaints really do get management in trouble.
