E-Hobby to make BT-18 Mirage Clear Type.

A very exciting listing has appeared on E-Hobby for a clear version of Alernators Mirage. This is clearly a thorwback to Mirages ability to become invisble (pardon the bad pun). No images have been put on e-hobby as of yet, but keep your eyes on Seibertron.com for all the latest updates. So far however, there are a few listings for BT-18 Mirage and some of his friends.

Preytell, how wil they manage to make diecast clear? Or will this offcially be the first ever all plastic BT?

I am having a hard time trying to figure out if it will be straight up see through or translucent. I would think it would be safe to say it would be all plastic for the clear.

It just dawned upon me that if e-hobby is doing this "clear" version then TakaraTomy are most likely doing either a Die-cast BT or plastic Kiss Players Mirage. I would hope for the BT, as I really miss the sweet, sweet kiss of well used Die-cast.

Sweet, can these be purchased directly from ehobby?

Is it Alternator or BinalTech?

It is going under the Binal Tech line, but it's unclear so far if it's die-cast or plastic. Mind you, it would have to be at least, mostly plastic as I don't think they can make see through die-cast metal :P

What a 'clear.ver' idea!

I can't wait to get a couple!

It cant be 100% clear can it, it would look pretty bad with all those pins and screws showing. I guess they will give him coloured tints.

Actually, I cant wait to see how they give him an invisible look. I hope its not just one flat colour, they have an opportunity to mix some reflective flakes in with the plastic or something.

Clear die-cast would be awsome. I hope its Alt because i only seen the regular Mirage alt once at walmart. I still cant find the new Ravage alt or Rumble alt. So lets hope that this is an alt and they will ship him with the other two.

Intriguing.

One could produce (essentially) transparent die-cast metal via a meshing technique, but it would be fragile and appear rather odd.

Some of the e-hobby G1 "ghost" figures are all clear plastics. You can't really see the pegs and screws a whole lot and they look pretty decent.

As do however love the the reflective flake idea! Like when he would go invisable it ususally had a twilighty/warp to the bridge kind of look to it. Or maybe it could come with a little bit of light pipping to form his "disappearing box" effect.

any "secret" sources where we can go to reserve a piece of this cutting out the middle man with the inflated prices?

i feel really bad not grabbing a ghost starscream back when it was still affordable...trancluent stuff are wicked

I just might get this. I was lucky enough to pick up Alternator Mirage in the stores and he was a great toy. I really hope he's translucent to completely clear BUT with white paint highlights for details. Why? Old school animation used to use the same technique for invisible charectors. Such as the 60's Fantastic Four cartoon for Sue and even in certain episodes of G1 if memory serves. It would be a very nice touch.

YEAH I THINK IT WILL BE MADE THE SAME WAY ALONG THE LINES OF THE GHOST OF STARSCREAM FIGURE

Oh gee let me think since metal can't be clear it has to be glass
of course it is going to be plasic or of some kind of plastic

I'm hoping that it will have a few die-cast parts such as the interior frame, and a clear blue plastic.

Hmm...imagine if it was produced out of very pure, highly polished ulexite.

The figure would be expensive and fragile, but the effect would be incredible.

If you're uncertain as to the visual effect it provides, two-dimensional images don't really do it justice-it displays the surface of whatever is behind it on the face of it.
