Beast Wars Toys

I just recieved the MISB Beast Wars Rampage I won on Ebay. I have truly underestimated how cool the Beast Wars toys are. :-?

I recently got Optimal Optimus & BW10th Transmetal Rattrap prior to Rampage. Between having those, Cryotek, Universe Depthcharge, Universe Razorclaw & Armada Predacon and other BW molds in various lines I have quite a few. And I must admit the Beast Wars toys are more impressive than I originally thought.

I really like the Transmetal figures the most though. I already have the TM molds for Rhinox, Airrazor, Cheetor, Terrorsaur, Megatron, Depthcharge & Tigerhawk in other lines. Does anyone have an opinion on if I should invest the effort and money on the actual BW Transmetal figures?

Feel free to share opinions. Thanks!

I was born in 85 so I grew up with Beast Wars, I loved the shows and the figures. I know a lot of people didnt like the Beast part, but the majority of the figures were actually very well done. A lot of my more favorite Transformers are infact BW.

Do whatever you can to get a Transmetal Tarantulas. He's one of the best BW figures.

I always liked the Beast Wars toys most. Plus the :MAX: & :PRED: symbols looked cooler than the much-used :BOT: & :CON:

I particularly like the pre-transmetal ones. I like it when the beast form looks like a real animal. Fuzors were a neat little twist on that as well, especially my guy, Torca.
And we finally got female TF's from this, in the forms of Blackarachnia and Airazor. :D

Plus they run circles around the G1's in terms of durability and posability.

100% true. I just got one on eBay, and it does indeed rock. I seem to remember people 'round here not liking TM terrosaur much, but I recently got him as well and I really like him. Color's a bit drab, but he's a cool figure. Silverbolt is a great figure, and I think one of the unsung gems of the line is TM Prowl. He's an owl which is cool becuase he may be the first owl TF, but he's a quite nice figure as well. And Megatron, the original, better than the TM, MEgatron is awesome. TM2 dragon Megatron is great also, and TM Waspinator.

Beast Wars is what rekindled my love of Transformers and turned me into a serious toy collector. I have every U.S. Beast Wars release including the Microverse sets. I would never part with a single one.

I DONT like Beastwars.

Nor do I like the fact they felt the need to have new factions.

Most BWs toys have too much kibble, ballence issues, no hands, and are generally really fugly.
Im not a big fan of the only beasts thing either, but that is only a minor complaint.

I'm largely in agreement with a few of Redimus' reasons here, but there are a couple BW figures that are excellent, just like every line really. Some of A/E/C were great figures and then there was Energon Ironhide and Hot Shot and Armada Sideswipe and all, so I think every line has its hits and misses. The main thing I never liked about BW was the organic side/beast transformation thing, and that being like the keystone of the series kept me from really embracing the figures. I like the show a lot more these days, but I only pick up figures for characters I like instead of trying for the complete collection. I think if you like a character then his or her figure is that much better even in light of any faults or shortcomings like inaccurate paint jobs or whatever.

I thought Beast Wars was great cause of the humoungous cast of non-show characters. It's not that I didn't like the show, it's just that all the characters save Tigerhawk(whose fig I'm not huge on), and TM2 Megs and TM2 Black Arachnia, got properly charcterized, and I just don't feel the urge to track them down. Plus, I pretty much got most of the characters when I was a kid. The marketing worked!

Another vote for TM Waspinator. He is truly one of my favoirite Beast Wars, and the chrome or whatever they used on his eyes is pretty strong, as mine never chipped. The wings broke a few times, but that was probably due to overplay. Even then, the joints are still nice and tight.

Other non-TM's I'd suggest? Terrorgator, that is just one really cool looking guy with the gun and shield. Claw Jaw, calamar alt. modes rock 8) . Snapper, cause turtles are cool too. I know there are others.

TM2's that are cool: Prowl, even if he doesn't have a weapon. The hands remind me a lot of the old Marvel Superheroes Secret Wars figures. Ramulus, he's nicely posable. Optimus Minor. Don't let bad hype fool you! Get it and see your opinion! I think he's a great little basic. For balancing purporses, Scarem. Scythes for hands, awsome 8) . Finally, the Universe version Frostbite. This mold was meant to be a Pred, it just looks so awsome, with so many sharp spikes everywhere, a cool sword, just great. The only complaint is that the beast mode doesn't lock in.

Well, IMO the original paint schemes for the Transmetals were best. The Armada and Universe repaints always seemed dark and drab to the point of being uninteresting.

And of course, there are also the "Fox Kids" repaints of various Transmetals as another option.

Imagine Frostbite running between someone's legs with that saw blade on his back.

My fav Transmetal was Blackarachnia. I was lucky to find her in November of 1999.

Anyone else but me liked the early Flip-Changers as well? :-?

I'm pretty fond of all the Beast Wars figures. I have the original or 10th anniversary of every figure except the mutants (and I'll probably even get them one day).

G1 was what I grew up with so it always has a place with me, but I sometimes wonder if Beast Wars had come out when I was a kid if I'd be a bigger fan of them. Right now I like G1 and BW about even.

This is true, I only have a few BW/BM era toys, but the one gem I have is Fuzor Silverbolt.
To be honest I've tried and utterly failed to embrace the show, I cant get past the fact that the animation is (IMO) aweful, and I never got along with the individual episodes that I watched.

I wasn't impressed with Beast Wars til I got a TM Scavenger on clearance years ago. I LOVE the giant ant mode.
