Hello, I have a G1 Shockwave made in 1984 - still in the box, never opened and I would like to sell it, wanted to see if you all could tell me what that might run? Thanks!

WOW.
Sealed in that condition is in the area of $400-$500. That may even be conservative considering that I'm exhausted and not thinking straight.

$2,000 is a bit much. The only way I could see a boxed one actually selling for that much is if it were AFA graded.
You could get $500 easy - probably up to $800 or $900.

^some ebay sellers test the theory of "there's a sucker born every minute"
yes, $2000 is too much.
Now sell it to me for $5 XD

The one for 2000 was graded an 85 I believe. The catalog in the window will hurt the value but depending on who is in the market, you could expect anywhere from 500-1000. If you were looking to maximize your profits, send it to AFA for grading. The only downside is if they don't grade it for any reason, you'll be out around 100-150.

I saw a Shockwave at Echobase for $350, MISB, w/a few creases here & there. I would sell this for $400-$500 easily. BTW, if you're looking to sell, you could always move this to the Buy/Sell/Trade Forum, see what members will give you there, or make an offer to them.

I have seen it going for $800-$1000 on couple of transformer only auction sites.
This is a good one...

I'd say a 800$-900$, may more. It depends how badly someone wants it.A die hard collector will pay more. Oh and Immortal Starscream....... no you aint gonna steal that one, but what makes you think its a knock off?.

When you say never been opened, to me that means it's still sealed. Are you sure it has never been opened? The catalogue and instructions are usaully sealed in a bag. The ones in your picture seem to be loose and suggests it's been opened.

I also think that its a knock off. Heck, unless it was wrapped in plastic (which it obiously was not), there should be some color fading. The box after all, is made of pulp, so no matter how carefull you are, there should be some degredation. Or is there some picture enhancement?

I would definately send that off to be graded. The box looks suspiciously fresh.
Ungraded, I think people taking a chance might go like 500-800.
Graded, if it is in the condition you are claiming, I would not be shocked to see that get well over a thousand.

Thanks everyone - it really actually has been wrapped in a plastic bag, sitting at the top of my mom's closet. No one even knew it was there - she must have bought it for one of the kids and never gave it to any of us.

If I were to get it graded, like you talk about - where would I do that? Can someone give me that information? Thanks!

You know, we quite often hear these stories, but it never happens to anyone that I know personally...namely me!
One does wonder why the booklet is in the window????

Thank you - I will try that. Is it trustable? Just don't want to send it and lose it somehow. Thanks!

What sort of figure is opened, but never removed? Did the original recipient have attention deficit disorder and opt to do something else before they could continue with their original plans for the figure?

I was wondering that myself!

It all depends on how much you believe ebay sellers. The examples i have seen, have been A) tape dried off in storage so could not be considered sealed or b)still "tied" in to styro-insert. Wheter or not shockwave was ever actually tied in to begin with is beyond me. Likewise...I take everything on ebay with a grain of salt.

When I see opened but not removed, I really see,
"I got this box open. I wish it was sealed but alas. However, I feel better as it looks pretty mint...well except for that one spot. Yeah, it probably wasn't removed. Oh, I know I'll sell it as opened, but not removed. Brilliant!! Now where's my Guiness?"
