Just got back from singapore and brought back with me a Hasbro reissue Astrotrain and Masterpiece megatron :grin:

i just wanted to create this topic to tell you guys that i'm now back in the UK and shipping megatron wasn't a problem. i put it in my suitcase and it passed all inspections (i'm guessing) because my suitcase was unopened at Heathrow.

thank god its packaged in robot mode so the guys in the store told me that shipping is no problem. i don't think the orange caps will be placed on either but thats just a guess.

I see stormrider has already put some good pics up. i'm gonna try and see what kind of dramatic poses i can come up with my 20th anniversary battlescarred prime and MP Megatron
will put some pics up later :)

I know it's a lot to ask, but is it remotely possible to get a play by play pictorial of the transformation to gun mode, so we get an idea at least, of what to expect?

I got mine from a store called Movie Replicas located in Lucky Plaza on Orchard Road, i paid 139.99 singapore dollars which converts to £47. its not too bad but that store overcharges for everything. I decided to get MP megs from them because all the other places were sold out and in the end £47 for MP megs still beats £50 for 20th anniversary prime in england.

there was a good store i went to called The Falcons Hanger in Far East Plaza located on Scotts Road which is off Orchard road, the guy there was genuinely helpful he even told me when i was looking at loose KO's and didn't try to sell them off as the real ones (he has the full size devastator and Swoop KO's as well as others). he had the best price for MP megs which was 110 singapore dollars, which converts to £37. but he had none in stock and didn't know when he would be getting anymore.

there are about 3 anime/manga/ action figure related stores in Far East Plaza so i would say head there first, get the shop plan layout from the information desk and find the hobby shop section. i think that they are on 4th and 5th floors but not 2 sure.

Megs came out in singapore on the 29/03/07 and i got mine on 30/03/07 and in 1 day every where was sold out so i hope your parents have better luck finding him when they go there.

Hope that helps :)

I actually found a yahoo shop in the US that seems to have unmodified Megatron's in stock, but I'm not sure if it'll be safe from being confiscated by UPS or whoever picks it up for shipping. I'm sure that customs won't touch it since it's in the US already, but would UPS do something since it's uncapped?

Actually, it says nothing about it being unmodified. Basing your decision to buy from them because of the cap issue, from their listing is not recommended.

Here's the listing:

Tisinc99.com wrote:MP-05 Masterpiece Megatron. Included accessories are: Megatron's small gun, energy sabre, energy mace and a small Kremzeek figure. Megatron will stand around 12" tall. It is unsure if the figure will be made of die-cast or plastic or a combination of both.

Due to United States Toy Gun Laws, it is illegal to import MP-05 Megatron due to it not having an orange blaze safety tip on the end of the gun barrel.

I'm tired of that BS. Replica guns are not illegal. Besides, Megatron doesn't even qualify as a replica gun. He's a transformer toy that converts into an oversized plastic gun. Confusing this for a real gun would be like seeing that oversized plastic model of teeth at the dentist office and believing they're someone's actual teeth.

I believe this will be my next tformers purchase, either that or a armada unicron, I dunno.

What's the diecast/plastic ratio?

There is a LOT of plastic on this figure, the first time i picked it up out of the box i actually thought it was all plastic.

There are a few die cast parts like the feet and some of the fixtures on the back but at the moment i have him in gun mode and there isn't a single bit of metal to be seen anywhere. :?

i'll do a quick breakdown

Robot form
chest = plastic
Head = plastic
legs = plastic
arms = plastic
feet = metal
main supports for body = metal

Alternative form (gun) = all plastic

the transformation is the most complex i have ever done and i only had the pictures in the manual to go from because i can't read japanese. For me the arms were the hardest to transform because you have to pull away the arms from the chest area in robot mode and it felt like it was gonna snap because they were in so tight. I had to study the instructions at least an hour before it was completely in gun mode.

the "shell" pieces for the legs pop out alot during transformation..... and i'll have to leave this post like this for now because the arm just fell off... :shock:
i can see how and where to screw it back in so its no problem but there are some quality issues here (maybe because its the first run or something?).

once i have it in robot mode again i'm probably just gonna leave it like that because its a nice display piece but i don't wanna risk breaking it.

will post some pics of half transformed, gun mode and G1 style head later on during the day.

ok Pictures completed, i tried my best to cover everything i could. personally i really like the robot mode and will be displaying megs in that form.

a quick summary:

Robot mode: 9/10 (legs and arms stop it from getting a perfect score)
Alternate mode: 7/10 (G1 accurate but completely plastic)
Transformation difficulty: 8/10 (higher number = more difficult)
Accessories: 7/10 (the other gun pieces would have been nice, who knows, maybe takara will re release a complete version like MP trailer prime)

I love those images, mine is on the way, i got my shipping notice 2 days ago from Hobby Link. I am pleased with his design, I mean it's a master piece G-1 Megatron, wether he's complete or not, there hasn't been a reworked or up datred version of him since the original came out! I mean he's the original badass, he was legend in the beast wars cartoon.. It's a masterpiece of perfection, finally a great representation of the robot form from the tV show and movie, and yeah his legs are a little skinny, but it's Megatron.. the orginal, no cybertron Jet, No Dinosaur, No car triple changer, no nerf pistol, no space ship with enrgon wings..just the original silver black, bad ass gun!! I love him, and if you aren't satisfied with him as a Transformer, then you will never be satisfied.. if that's the case.. then make your own..

By the way that last statement was general in nature and not meant towards any body in particular, but........... if you feel guilty about it, then its YOU!! :grin:
