The I'm excited bout Botcon thread

Since the other thread is turning quite nasty, I thought it would be a good idea to leave that one to the people who are in unfortunate positions and will not be able to attend.

So I figured I'd make a thread where we can be excited over Botocn and the exclusives.

Would be great if this thread was kept positive as there is no point to 2 negative threads on the same topic. Yes, the price initially had me quite mad, but I've cooled off and come to terms with it. So with that out of the way, lets have a fun thread.

So for me, I am super psyched. I am going to make my gf tag along so that I can keep one set MISB and grab another to open up. Thundercracker, Dirge and Thrust will be fantastic to have.

However, what do you think of the bonus attendee figure? It HAS to be Sunstorm. The only thing that would phase me about this event is if it was not. But, don't Dreadwing and Darkwing go together? :-? I read that there will be other bonus figures. I would be ridiculously psyched if we got Sunstorm AND got Dreadwing and Darkwing as combiners!!!!!

How awesome would that be?

I was excited until I saw the date. I'm going down to Florida the 21st of June. Damn. Happy for anyone else who can attend it.

Ooh bad timing. This will be my first botcon, so that has me extra excited. I can't wait to get into the dealer room. :)

Lol, I still need to convince my gf she is going. She is envisioning this as the stereotypical super dorky Star Trek conventions that are parodied in films. I am trying to convince her otherwise.

I won't be attending but I am going to do the Iacon package and get a 2nd set of the seekers in bags.

I'm planning on going.

A friend of mine is giving me his condo for the weekend, so, it's going to be awesome times.

That's really my main issue. I can't afford the prices for hotel rooms. I though about just sleeping in my Car too. lol

Now there's an idea... fire up the old RV.

Nah, once was enough for me. You guys luck out this year though, I'd trade last years set for this years.

LOL, its hard gravel.

Oh, for those attending, you are going to be about 30-45 minutes from Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casinos. Might be able to get a cheaper room there, do some gambling and be just a short drive from Botcon. I'm pretty sure there are busses from RI to the casinos.

I'm not going to be able to go but I am very excited about the convention exclusive set because I intend to buy it. I want to complete my classic seekers at least with the six regular characters.

Is there a way to get the 5 figure convention set in just the bags even if you're not attending the convention? I know you can get the decked out box set by itself with out attending. But what about getting just the figures and accessories in the simple plastic bags?

You can only get a bagged set if you buy a boxed one first.

This is the one year I really really wanted to go but the time of the convention conflicts with my commitments for GenCon. It would have to be one or the other and since GenCon supports my writing I have to stick with that.

I will get the Iacon pack and I'm very excited about this set however I wish the seekers would have came separate for the other folks.

I'm really curious about the souvie sets and wish I had a buddy going that could find a way to swing a set for me. As for experiencing the con i'll have to stay glued to this site to read all the cool stuff. Next year depending on the time I promise!

The more I think about the more I think about skipping Florida and instead going to Botcon. I know I'm not gonna be wasting 150 a night at a hotel though.

I'm going! It will be my first TF convention of any type. I'm going up from Florida. My wife and the kids planned on going up to the North east coast this summer anyway, so we scheduled it around Botcon.

We all plan on getting sets, and I'm okay with the character choices. I do think Thundercracker should have been mainstreamed but no amount of complaining is going to change anything now.

Well, I am excited to get to go.

The set seems well worth it. I hope Dreadwing is a Jetfire repaint!

The two souvenir sets and free figure are anyone's guess, but I'm thinking because of the talk of a new leader... Scourge (Nemesis Prime) black Prime, may be because he is on the logo (sort of).

Or I was thinking it might be a Megatron remold into Shockwave, but I thought that would be way too difficult for this show.

I wonder if that Grimlock repaint from a few months back will come into play here? Not sure who he would be, but I remember it having Decepticon colors.

Thanks for starting this thread. I just faxed in my registration this AM, but besides the figures the advance screening will be awesome, and the HASBRO tour will be sweet!

Well, I sort of bit the bullet and now I'm seriously considering the Iacon Package... Can this be ordered online? I was disappointed to hear the figures that would be included (since that means they won't be sold anywhere else...), but at least a member can get a discounted price without going to Botcon. I'm looking forward to the day when maybe Botcon comes to central Ohio--then I'd seriously be all over attending!

But man, do I want those extra seekers and even the other two....

This will also be my first con as well. My pal lives in Jersey and I'm flying in to visit that weekend. We're buying Primus packages but will only pop in Saturday to get our exclusives and check out the con. Based on my overall impression of people in the fandom from posting on these boards and others I'm sure attending everyday might be a bit too much of a goodthing. Good looking out and thanks to Bonger for stepping back from all the piss n vinager to remember this fandom is rooted in joy not anger and hate. TX out

Thanks Tx. I will be doing the same as you. Hop in, get the 2 packages and extra figures for me and my gf, scope out the dealer room and split.

Well, that is unless some of you wanna head out, go gambling and get plastered.

If possible, I'll try and head down Thursday evening to grab my set so that I can get the pics up here for everyone who will not be going. I assume Ryan won't be able to post his galleries till he gets back to MI?

Sunstorm, be there!!!

Hey--how are you planning on getting your box set? Is there an online way through the Botcon site to order/buy it? I've been there, but it's not the easiest thing to navigate...

Yeah, I've been wondering that too. Is there a way to register online? Or do you have to print out the PDF and mail it in?

to get the Iacon package (nonattendee) you fax in your order with the same registration form its on there.

I'm debating about picking up a bagged set but that's alot of coin to toss down since I may have to scour ebay for the other figures.

Cool. I'll have to do that tomorrow. Would rather have a straight online purchase option, though...

Thanks!

I have been looking forward to this BotCon since the last one. This will only be my second, but I was so impressed with last years I knew I had to make this one. I got my Hotel reservations for the Marriot about 2.5 weeks ago and I faxed in my form yesterday for me and my Girl Friend. I'm excited that she wants to go and learn more about my hobby, a major plus. I am also looking forward to teaming up with Ryan again and getting all the galleries and news stories out as soon as we see it! Only bad part about this Botcon is I have to hold back QUITE A BIT on buying stuff. As soon as I get home from BotCon, 5 days later I am moving to Seattle with my Girl Friend. So not to much extra money to spend, and not a lot of space for new Transformers. But thats ok... just going to BotCon is enough for me this year.

I am also looking forward to this years set, I can't wait to see some pictures of what there gonna look like.

Yea they say they are working on a online application. I think in this day of age it wouldnt be too hard to do it, and it almost seems silly not to offer it. But alas I faxed in all the info. It's just kind of inconveinent, not to mention your CC# and all of that being on the Fax or mail.
