Which Japanese Beast Wars reissues are worth it?

I just received Black Arachnia, which I ordered because of the new show accurate paint job.

I might upgrade some of my current BW figures if the paint is worth it, although it is hard to tell from the photos.

I am interested in Dinobot, Cheetor, Rhinox, and maybe Waspinator.

To anyone who has these figures already - which ones have paint applications worth buying?

Here is Dinobot for you to ogle. I've got a few others on order. Cheetor looks good and I went for Cohradra simply because I don't own the mold and I the original seems to go for only slightly less then this version.

the only thing i like about the takara dinobot is the mouth

Thanks Tentagil, that helps. The mouth seems to be the main draw for me too. The red inside the tail not so much. I think I'll decide to be happy with the US reissue and save the $30.

I'm still interested in the other figures, so if anyone else can help please do.

How can they get Dinobots beast mode color wrong again, when was he that color in the show? What the hell are they looking at? Parts are right, but I don't get it. The original is best for Beast mode I think.

Anyway, I'd like to get Dinobot, mostly because the red in the tail and the mouth. Blackarachnia and Tigatron.

Maybe Cheetor, he looks good and Waspinator has a much nice paint job, plus I love Waspy. At first I wanted Rhinox, but from some pix I've seen he's off with a couple things like his feet are tan instead of black. I'll see, the price sure doesnt help, way overpriced if you ask me. Places I've seen anyway. Xybertoys is insane at over 40 bucks, nuts.

They all look better now IMO. I wish they didn't because I already bought all of the figures for the Hasbro BW anniversary. Dinobot looks real nice, I actually plan to keep the Hasbro one too (Instead of selling him along with the rest of the Hasbro ones.) because they're both very good looking to me.

The reissue head is not remolded. It just has a white mouth painted on his face shield. I was really disappointed that they didn't remold Blackarachnia and Dinobot's heads. Cheetor is really nice except his beast mode's pupils are too small, same with the repaint of Robot Masters Optimus Primal. Megatron is pretty good but his purple seems a little too dark to me. Blackarachnia is a pretty good interpretation ... she's probably the best of the bunch. I was surprised to see that Cohadra and Archadis both received paint upgrades as well. Working on pictures of all of these figures plus a few others.

I look forward to the galleries of these figures. That will help immensely in my decision of which to buy, since I'd just be "upgrading" figures I already have. At $30 each I can't justify getting them all.

While I'm on the subject of photo galleries - I'd love to see one of G1 Metroplex. Any plans for that one in the near future?

I would like to do him in the near future. Probably not until later in the summer. I would really like to get my hands on Metrotitan before I do the gallery for Metroplex. I've been itching to do a Metroplex gallery as well as Trypticon and Gigastorm (BWII) so I might just do them at some point before Metrotitan.

As a donator to your camera fund (hint hint),I'd like to see it sooner than later. I know there are several interpretations of Metroplexes' city mode, so I'd like to see what you come up with. You could always append the gallery with Metrotitan photos later.

Keep up the excellent work. I use the galleries quite frequently and I've found myself visiting your site's forums several times a day for quite some time now!

I'll be at Botcon this year. If I see you, I'll be sure to say hello.

edit - I just noticed my three year anniversary of joining seibertron.com is tomorrow (April 24th)!

Yes, please make sure you say hi! There's going to be a bunch of us there from Seibertron which I'm looking forward to.

Metroplex won't happen until after the movie. I'm simply out of time as far as the galleries go for the next two months. But he is certainly on my list of highly requested figures.

Not yet ... I'm still looking for one. :)

In the meantime, here's the first 4 of Takara's Beast Wars anniversary figures ...

Blackarachnia: http://www.seibertron.com/toys/gallery. ... =0&start=0
Waspinator: http://www.seibertron.com/toys/gallery. ... =0&start=0
Cohrada: http://www.seibertron.com/toys/gallery. ... =0&start=0
Archadis: http://www.seibertron.com/toys/gallery. ... =0&start=0

And here's the original version of Archadis from Beast Wars Neo (which I added earlier this morning):
http://www.seibertron.com/toys/gallery. ... =0&start=0

As you will see from the galleries, this is hands down the best version of Blackarachnia. I wish they had remolded her head or at least gotten rid of the gaping hole in her face but oh well. At least she has a cartoon accurate paint scheme now. Speaking of which, this is also the best version of Waspinator. His wings are now a opaque purple instead of just being opaque clear plastic. His face looks a ton better as well over the Hasbro reissue.

I'm indifferent about Cohadra and Archadis. Their paint schemes are too similar to the original versions of those figures but both are an improvement.

I should have galleries of the other 4 Takara reissues posted tomorrow or on Friday. My first priority tonight is Revoltech Megatron which I just received about a 1/2 hour ago.
