First look at Japanese Classics repaints

Here's the first sets of pictures confirming the "more G1 accurate" repaints of Classics Prime, Bumblebee & Grimlock being released by Takara/Tomy in February & March:

No images yet of Mirage, Starscream or Megatron.

I personally think Prime's repaint looks decent, but not worth justifying the import price to buy the figure again. Bumblebee definitely looks better with the yellow forearms instead of off-white, but overall seems quite plain compared to Hasbro's version and not necessarily worth paying the import price for either. Grimlock with his gold neck is a complete pass imo.

You'll also notice that the rubsigns have been replaced with actual red Autobot faction logos.

Overall, these look pretty much exactly how I expected they would - less yellow on Prime, more yellow & less white on Bumblebee, and more gold & red on Grimlock. Don't have too high of hopes for Mirage either, but am still VERY anxious to see what they do with Megatron & Starscream.

PS: no use wondering/hoping/speculating what they'll do with Astrotrain, Cliffjumper, Jetfire, etc. since none of the Classics besides the current 6 listed above have been announced or confirmed yet.

Enjoy... and here's hoping this thread doesn't degrade into yet another bunch tired "they should/shouldn't release the BotCon Seekers..." debates.

These figures really don't do much for me I can take them or leave them. Now if megatron is more g1 color accurate then I might consider import price.

Personally I'm glad I held off on these guys for the Japanese versions. I'd much rather have a Screamer with a proper 'con logo on him than a rubsign. I don't much like rubsigns.

Sadly Grimlock's shiny chest will be of little use to me as I will want him in T-Rex mode for my display. =(

Ive preordered Grimlock from Xybertoys, but thats more to do with the fact I missed out/couldnt find him when he was out in the UK.

Cant say Im very impressed with the lack of rubsigns, I think the takara of old (pre Tomy) would have kept those.

I am really looking foward to seeing if they do Megatron and Starscream properly. Megatron's Hasbro colours werent bad, but the silver fan repaints look a million times better, and starscream.... poor paint job + medicore design = blargh

FINALLY, the Classics get released over here?! Took long enough. Here's hoping we get the full Seeker set just to make up for the wait/huge Western import fees.
