I've noticed on Movie Leader Brawl and the Barricade I just got that their feet have extra parts not listed in the instructions, or shown on the box.

Leadrer Brawl has a blade on each shin that flips down and covers his feet. What's that all about?

Barricade has tabs that flip up on his feet and just stick in the air. I can't find why they would be there, except for asthetic purposes.

Any guesses?

Because the movie models had those spikes on their feet too, so they are there just to look more like their onscreen versions.

They're used for battle. Combat blades

This feature is something new to the TF toylines. They got parts you can flip or pull-out just to make them look more life-like or alien-like. And not for any added function.

It's a nice touch.
