I just happen to find him at Walmart tonight after picking up movie Starscream and Barricade from Target. I baught him, despite how I hate Scions lol. He's an overall very nice figure, and I've never ever come across an Alt. in a store before. Are they all rare?

I do not think that Alt. Skids is as rare some of the other figures in the line. He is still a nice figure at least in the robotic mode. Congrats on finding him in a store.

he is "rare" in a sense that alternators are discontinued and hard to find at retail stores. however, out of all the alternators he is not that rare nor is he in much demand as some of the other alternators are. but imo, out of all the alternators, he is one of the best. he is a great figure, good find

ok thanks guys! I still think it's a little odd that I found him. The Walmart here sucks, really bad. They hardly ever have anything, even in the non holiday months. He was next to a Darth Vader transformer and a Real gear, the 3 of them being the only TF's in the store.

Not rare at all. The alts I always see at Walmarts around here are Skids, Rumble, Ravage, Sunstreaker, Rollbar, and theey're always on sale for 14 and change.

Do you think you can get me a sunstreaker or rumble?

He's the best Alternator mold inside and out.

Got complete interior details, most extensive articulation, and most proportional robot mode (except for the giant boobs).

In my book, he's the overall best design in this series.

Skids was the last Alt I saw in stores, along w/ Ricochet, long after all the rest disappeared. It's a great mold on its own, gret articulation, with lots of potential for kitbashing as well (I've seen Ironhide, Ratchet, Soundwave, and Blaster bashes, all quite convincing.

Boobs? More like a uni-boob. But it's a big'un! :-P

Haha. That's because he's wearing a giant training bra. You can't see the cleavage.

The only complaints i have about him, is the door kibble behind his legs. This makes it a bit tricky to pose him sitting down or kneeling.

No he's just a shelf warmer. I have him and he's a good mold. Just wish they made him Ironhide though

I saw Skids along with Ricochet at Frys a couple of weeks ago. Until this fall, Skids was a major shelfwarmer around here. He's a good toy, just didn't sell well here.

Yeah. I wonder why he's not flying off the shelf. He's one of the best molds.

Maybe his character is not so popular?

In my case, it's the first time i ever hear the name "Skids" when i saw this Alternator on sale in Amazon. And i went to do some internet digging to find out that he had a G1 counterpart.

Better that the Ford GT mold? Or the Mustang mold? I doubt that. He's good, but his weapon stinks and the car mode is ugly.

I've never seen Alts in my local stores.

But Skids certainly isn't rare on eBay. You can easily get one, brand-new and still sealed, for $20. Of all the Alts for sale on eBay (I browse them often), Skids seems to be the cheapest and easiest to get.

As a character, he is rare...he is not seen very often in either the G1 cartoon or the comics. For the Alt. line, that mold was going to be Ironhide, but for some reason, Hasbro decided to change it to Skids.

Probably because the mould is perfect for Skids (seen his G1 alt mode?). I have his binaltech counterpart, Broadblast. A great robot mode, pretty good vehicle mode, and it's right hand drive. Is Skids? I don't know. But I like my one and only binaltech.

there is a BT Skids...the one that you described is actually Blaster, if it is a BT-Asterisk. They are the same mold.

Which is why I said his Binal counterpart: Broadblast, even though it is Blaster, his 'official' name is Broadblast. Didn't know there was a BT Skids though. Should have, now I come to think about it. Silly me. But I prefer the silver to teh blue anyhoo.

Where's "around here" as I would like one of each, please. Or how about 100 + shipping? :D

If you're talking about the car model it is based from, Ford GT, even Ford Mustang, are clear winners.

But i'm talking about how the toys is designed. Skids got more exterior and interior details accurately matching the real car. And robot parts are very well hidden. Plus, a lot of added nic-nacs, such as 4 swinging doors that look like the real ones in and out and properly proportioned, tinted glass, opening rear hatch, opening hood, engine bay with accurately looking engine and some other "blocky" things (unlike Mustang's see-thru engine bay), it's even got 4-speakers!

The only obvious robot parts sticking out are the shoes in the luggage area. And yet, they look like a pair of duffel bags that the passengers intended to bring to their vacation trips.

Plus i like toy cars that you can see everyday in the streets, as opposed to super cars that you only see in magazines. "Everyday common cars" are much more fun to see transform into a robot.

The robot mode is equally magnificent in design. No empty see-thru ribs or back. No empty pants that you can lift up to reveal the missing dick. Most car interior parts are ingeniously hidden or meld into the robot parts.

You mean this mold was originally really intended for Ironhide?

Skids is left hand drive.

That's so sad. Ironhide is almost always a crowd favorite.

That's a lot of marketing value lost.
